Hey everyone. It’s been roughly a month since FNAN 2’s release, so I felt it’d be a good time to update everyone on what’s been going on. And, well, I’m already working on my next project which you can hold in your computer and play with your eyeballs and fingeridoos in the future. What is it and when can you play it? Well…
I think it’s no secret I tend to really underestimate how long it takes for me to release a game. Five Nights at Nutty’s 1 was first announced on February 1st 2016, and didn’t release until January 4th 2017. Nearly a whole year after the initial announcement. And it turned out to be pretty awful after all that time. FNAN 2? Started development on January 21st 2017, officially announced on April 2nd 2017, when almost all coding for the night gameplay was done, with a scheduled release date of “later this year”….and was then released on January 21st 2019. A whole two years after the initial start of development. And, to a lesser degree, Nut: The FNAN RPG, which I thought I could complete in around two days, and it took two more months instead. It’s been a repeating theme for me now. Announce a game, take years to finish it. In the FNAF community, which is always moving and releasing fangames faster than a man above ice and spiderwebs, this isn’t good, and can lead to people forgetting your fangame exists or thinking it was cancelled or overall make them end up getting completely tired of waiting.
The conclusion I’m taking from this, is that I need to stop announcing games when I think they can be done soon. Only when I know they can be done soon, or when they are fully complete. That way, I can stop making people wait ages and ages for new info on an announced game, and instead just quickly give it to them, which I think will make everyone happier. And I want to start trying this with my next project.
So that means…silence. This is all I’m saying. This is all I will say for a long time. please dont sue me kane How long, exactly? Well, I don’t know, but if I know me, don’t hold your breath for it to be anytime soon. This could take weeks, months, years, but if I still know me, I’m not gonna give up on this, and it’ll get there eventually.
There is a new project in the works, and I think you’ll enjoy it when it releases. Just be prepared to not hear anything about it for a long time.
