Hey everyone! It's that time of the month again! Let's review what's new! It's been quite an eventful month and there are some very exciting new additions!

But let's start with something simple..

The first skin (or, well, form) that was added since the last Devlog is the Judge, now with updated sprites. Thus our duo of OFF characters is complete. Since then, the OFF remake has released on Steam and Nintendo Switch. If you haven't played OFF before, I'd highly recommend it!

Additionally, since the pose system now supports an infinite number of poses, we've gone back and given Papyrus a bunch of new poses. Who knows, perhaps we'll do the same for a few other forms.

After adding the OFF characters, it only felt right to add Madotsuki, so she's back in the game! She remains largely unchanged from her iteration in Legacy, but she's still nice to have in the game!

I've been meaning to surprise people with the current character additions to the game - focussing on a mix of old favorites and brand-new additions. Noelle was always notably missing from Legacy versions of the game and I've seen people look forward to her addition. Well, here she is, along with 3 alternate costumes, including her Dark World appearance, church outfit and SURVEY_PROGRAM demo design.

Keeping in line with surprising additions, it's Giegue from Mother (also known as Giygas in Earthbound). Perhaps a bit odd for a first Mother series representative, but a welcome addition nonetheless. I believe I've shared his theme a while ago already; it's one of my favorites. But how do you follow up a random left field addition like that? Well..

Lancer is back and better than ever! He now has around 11 different poses, including a dedicated pose that just plays the cartoon splat sound (you will be able to toggle other players' pose sounds in the future), his trusty bike and even...

The return of.. The stool forme!! ...please keep in mind though, I have the power to remove this and will use it if I have to, so please behave this time.
So those are fun additions already, aren't they? Well, around this time, Flophawk actually joined the team as not only an artist, but also as a programmer. There was just one problem though; it is kind of difficult to test the changes you make if you don't have the server software, nor a proper server.. so, it was finally time to set up and organize a proper remote server to put the game on.
It has been done. The game now runs on a proper dedicated remote server! For now, I'll be paying purely out of my own pocket, but once we have a public release going, I'll be looking into ways to set up donation methods for those of you who wish to support the project by helping with server costs!

The first thing Flophawk did was add another character from FH!Storyshift (cool project you guys should look into. We have dedicated channels for it on the afangames Discord Server now). So, we officially now have not only a proper remote server, but a second programmer (who is also talented when it comes to art and music), which are significant improvements!
I'll include a section where she can talk about her other additions herself, so for the rest of the devlog, I'll be talking about my own additions.
Floppo isn't only coding and creating art and music; she's also been actively contributing in terms of design and ideas. For instance, she created a new design for the chat UI's instructions that I implemented shortly after.

The new design is a lot more easily readable and adds the info as to how to access the portrait selector (referred to as "Quick Select" here).
Afterwards, I felt it was time to add another form to the game.

Burgerpants, complete with his own, unique fun event and new portraits from Deltarune Chapter 4. Other than that, he remains similar to his Legacy incarnation.

Classic MTO Legacy character Woodman. Woodman is near identical to his Legacy incarnation, but can use his nice sprite as a pose and portrait respectively. The original costume remains though, for those who wish to be 100% nice.

And obviously, we can't forget about Jotaro, a character people actually use. He actually comes with some fancy new designs for the battle buttons, too. Like with a lot of other returning characters, his sideways facing poses can actually face both left AND right now.

So, that's 3 familiar faces, who could be next?

That's right, we finally added Serial Number Q5U4EX7YY2E9N (also known as "Queen"). Ever since Chapter 2 released, Queen seemed like an inevitable addition to the game.
However, the next addition is a bit more ambitious...
That's right, Jevil is back with brand new sprites, new portraits, a ton of poses and silky smooth animations. Unlike Legacy, he doesn't even walk anymore and instead opts to just float around like in Deltarune!
I'm incredibly happy with how he turned out; especially the devilsknife animation.

I felt it would be a bit odd to have a public BETA version without Mettaton. Unlike his Legacy incarnation, his rectangular form is his base version, with EX serving as the costume. This may be subject to change in the future, but for now, let's rejoice that Mettaton is back! Mettaton EX's set of expressions has also been expanded to cover most of the expressions he has in the original game!

Finally, it was time to follow up on this promise; the redesigned Swap bros are finally here, based on the original Underswap art by popcornpr1nce. They're extremely cartoony and very expressive and I like to think they make for a great addition.
Unfortunately, lowercase Papyrus is still borderline unreadable.
That's a lot from me though, so in the meantime, why don't we see what Flophawk has been up to?
Beware all ye who enter this part of the devlog!
Joining the team and being the second (and only) other person with access to the sourcecode, I felt a bit out of place just adding skins. If I'm only making assets, do I really even need to have access-? I figured I should earn my keep, so I'm happy to announce...!

I started porting maps!
With Grillby's in the game, it only made sense to have the rest of the town! Returning in... much better and more accurate shape than legacy, there's even some fun new spots that were locked off in UNDERTALE! I'll leave it up to you to find all of them.

And, if we have the town, well... Why just stop there?

That's right, Snowdin Forest in... well half its glory-! I have it finished up to the Snowdog room, and plan to keep going. Ideally all of the Snowdin region will be available to explore in the public beta, and if not, we'll just see how much of it I have done by then-
That's not all though! I do have one final contribution. A highly anticipated character from DELTARUNE, even if he may only be relevant for a single chapter... Even though he may be noones favourite... The game just wouldn't feel complete without his inclusion.
The song you just heard was a new track by Flophawk. That's right, she not only arts and codes, but she also musics! Take a listen:
I hope you're all as excited for the future as I am! Things are looking bright and we're inching ever closer to that public BETA release over on the Discord server. Until the next devlog, have a good one (and do the Mario)!
