New Years update

Happy New Year!

Well, I said I wouldn't be doing much development work over the holiday, and I'll be darned if my computer didn't try its best to hold me to that statement.

Over the last week, I struggled immensely with Construct 3, which is a gigantic pain in the *ss, as I tried to make some simple code changes and try, repeatedly, to just get my game running to test my changes.

When Construct 3 was merciful enough to allow me to play my game, I discovered that it was a lot more difficult than I ever expected to simply keep the music playing without starting over when you die/continue.

Anyway, that's what I finally pulled off despite my laptop's and Construct 3's best efforts. For my next trick, I just need to do the same thing when you enter the Settings menu and return.

That sounds like it should be no sweat, but I've learned not to trust a simple problem to be easy to solve.

Anyway, I'm _really_ hoping, as I bet a lot of you are, that 2021 will be better than the last one. Not expecting it, mind you, but hoping.

See you then.

Oodles of options!

Accessibility aids aplenty!

I added some more settings lately to toggle distorted graphics, fine-tune the audio mixing, and other stuff. Hopefully this should make the game accessible to more kinds of players.

Sweet victory.

Kodon's prologue level is DONE! That's milestone 1 of 4 for completing Phase 3 and reaching Crucible's final release.

Stay tuned for more news in the coming months!

Presented without comment.

Behold, your reward for beating boss rush - this sick-as-heck 3D cutscene I threw together over the weekend!

Yeah, I know the game is mostly 2D, but I really felt like going way over the top with this game mode. I hope it paid off.

I thought the escape sequence in Chapter 2 didn't have enough urgency to it, so I spiced it up a little.

I also wrote a new song to go with it!

Keep an eye out for this in the next update, coming... whenever I feel like it.

Sure has been a while since I posted something new, huh? Well, that's because I've been working on something big (that, and bugfixing).

Here's a little preview of that something!

More underwater friends :)

I updated the character select screen again!

I ditched the blurred overlay background for a stylish color-changing gradient, and added a spotlight to justify the players' shadows.

I also combined player & difficulty onto 1 screen for efficiency.

Scenic subterranean lake ambiance.

It seems so peaceful... for now.

I got a little creative block working on the lake level, so I skipped ahead for a bit.

This is the Boss Rush arena event! You fight many/all bosses back-to-back here.

I decided to go crazy with 3D effects here, since it happens in a virtual reality room.
