Heyo everyone, it's that one Cube guy nobody's heard about! Again!!
CDH2 Reshined is really starting to take shape, progress is going slowly but surely. I still haven't coded in the other characters yet (the only coded one still is N. Cube), but I have been having lots of fun coding some new content never seen in the series!
But enough dawdling, let's get a move on:
What do the new ducts in the office do?
They're purely visual on the surface.
Mechanically, well, you'll just have to wait and find out :]
Are there any new mechanics or threats players haven’t seen yet?
What do you think? :D
Any changes to flashlight, camera, or other core gameplay elements?
Cameras and Mask are basically the same as they were.
In terms of the flashlight, there is one notable difference:
Not sure if I've shared this before, but the flashlight automatically recharges! No longer will players have to hold down a button to recharge!
Might look like I made the mechanic easier compared to the original CDH2 (as you no longer have to hold down a button to recharge it), but trust the process. You'll notice just how much every single percentage of your flashlight matters when the moment calls for it :]
Any surprise returning characters or entirely new ones?
Not that many, to be honest. There are two returning faces, and one new one that may need double-checking if it's real or not.
How has the story diverged from CDH2?
You be the judge when CDH2R releases :]
Are there new lore elements, easter eggs, or connections to other CDH games?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What are your plans for beta test builds?
The way I see it, beta test builds will have a mandatory GameJolt login requirement (a whitelist system).
As for what these beta test build releases will contain, here are the stages I have planned:
1. One new character coded in gradually (so beta testers can determine what needs to be changed, what works well, what doesn't, how each character bounces off of each other, etc.)
2. Start building and unveiling systems like night progression, certain achievements, etc.
3. Custom Night testing
4. Arcade Mode testing
5. One big final playthrough of the entire game
6. Lots of bug fixing most likely
And finally, Stage 7, the game releases to the public!
This plan may sound a bit convoluted, and it most likely is missing some details, but that's all I could come up with for now.
How many jumpscare assets are fully done, and how many are still in progress?
So far, all of them are complete! Even the Game Over screen is feature-complete!
There is one missing though, but I'll get to it eventually.
Will there be hidden mechanics or secret ways to survive nights?
Pressing ALT + F4 will skip to the next night!
How much of the original lore remains intact, and what’s been reimagined/rebooted?
This game in-universe still takes place before CDH3.
That's it really.
Is Night 6 still on the table, or definitively gone?
Gone.
Are any achievements being updated or added?
One or two achievements got changed entirely, but it's locked in mostly.
That's all for today.
Take care, stay safe, God bless!
