Originally, I wanted to close up shop for Pentagun and start over from scratch (Pentagun 2), but then I realized there isn’t a single thing I’d do for Pentagun 2 that couldn’t be done for this game. My original vision was to have a game that’s never quite done - it is ALWAYS receiving updates, ALWAYS growing, etc etc.
I think I’ll maintain that vision.
Instead of Pentagun 2, Pentagun will be receiving a 1.4 update, titled the “Winter 2017 Update.”
Here’s what to expect:
-3-5x increase in level size
-New enemy type
-Improved menu animations
-Lots and lots and lots of cleanups and bug fixes.
The only thing I may run in to trouble with is the huge increase in level size.
From Alpha 1.0 to Beta 1.0, the level size was around 497x3218. In Beta 1.1, this was increased to 497x10000. The level size has remain unchanged ever since.
In 1.4, the level size could see an increase up to 497x50000! This doesn’t mean that all game modes will take advantage of so much space, it just means that I’ll have plenty of room to make levels as long - or short - as I want.
So, where’s the problem? Performance.
We’ll see how this works out.
That is all for now. Here’s to Pentagun’s second rebirth (the release of 1.0 - exiting the beta stage - was supposed to be the end, but wasn’t, and now this).
