Economic Views: It's no secret that the economy isn't looking too good in the USA. But I think this could be fixed with a general rework of the tax system.
The UK, where I live, has a slightly different taxing system, where the amount you pay is scaled to how much you earn. You also have an amount which you earn tax-free, known as personal allowance. This amount starts out as £12,570, and once your income goes beyond £100000 (One hundred thousand pounds) personal allowance decreases by £1 for every £2 of income over £100,000. The United States could adopt a similar system, which could promote more equal income distribution, while also allowing for individual wealth. This tax system may need adjustments to ensure that it allows the United States to sustain itself, but the basic template for an improved tax system is there, and is simply waiting to be customised to support US expenses and then deployed.
The right wing expresses the idea of lowering taxes, to promote individual wealth. This idea sounds good to me, and can sync up perfectly with the UK tax system. It means that everyone can have the money needed to live comfortably, while still ensuring that everyone chips in. This could trigger greater public support for the tax system.
The left wing wishes to reduce income inequality, which is a good idea. The exact conclusion on if women are still being paid less than men seems clouded, at least from what I've seen. So a general overhaul to wages could allow for income equality. In combination with the UK's idea of scalable tax payments, and the right wing's beliefs around individual wealth, the combination of all these ideas could achieve the goals that both sides have in the economic front, resulting in a system that allows everyone to live comfortably. A middle ground needs to be found in order to ensure that all of these ideas can coexist and ultimately benefit each other.
Regarding benefits for those who face more challenges: I believe that these benefits should continue to be provided until the individual no longer needs them. At which point they could be charged slightly more with their taxes in order to pay off the debts of these benefits. Individuals would pay back what they can, without sacrificing comfortable living conditions. Meaning that paying back benefits would wait until the individuals are fully able to pay them back. Once they are capable of paying them back, the amount they pay would be tiered based on their income level. This would help allocate more tax revenue to support the United States' needs.
Family values: Tradition vs progression. A foolish fight, in my opinion, as society can benefit from the combination of both.
A man and a woman are required in order to bring forth the next generation, so I believe that this aspect of traditional family values should be respected, and allowed to perpetuate. After all, what is the future of mankind without the next generations? However, couples of this kind could split, as all couples can, and people can change through their experiences, so homosexual and heterosexual relationships should be respected equally.
One traditional family value is upholding religion and teaching morality. I agree moreso with teaching morality, as this paves the way for a more respectful society. As for religion, I believe that every individual should have the right to decide for themselves, what they believe in. While family can show their religion to their children, the child should be allowed to see all religious stances, and make their own choice on the path they want to take.
For parent-child relationships...this is important. Every kid deserves a parent who cares about them. There has been a rise in parental neglect, with children simply being handed electronic devices, which I believe to be wrong. Children shouldn't be behind a screen from such a young age, they should get to see the world. Parents should be there for their kids physically and emotionally, to ensure that their children grow up to be contributing members of society. Children should learn responsibility, empathy, respect and the value of hard work. Any opportunity for bonding, big or small, should be taken, as it can assist in a child's growth. Programs should also be put in place to teach parents how to raise their children, and to allow parents to recieve help for mental health issues, lack of guidance, and financial issues.
Gender roles can be an optional thing in society. There should be no shame in people choosing traditional gender roles, but there should also be no shame in people choosing to not stick to these roles. Everyone should be allowed to express themselves, but that means traditional gender roles should be given the same amount of respect as any other gender roles.
There may be a clash or two in some communities with these ideals. It would be important to allow space for changes and ensure they are respected in practice. Individuals would not be forced to adopt them, as mere respect would be enough. This is why such values as empathy and respect should be taught, as teaching these to younger generations would allow for a decrease in tensions.
Government involvement in businesses: It is common knowledge that the left wing wants more government involvement, while the right wing wants less...but both take it to extremes. The solution is, of course, compromise. After discussing family values and the role of morality in society, it’s clear that the same ethical considerations should apply to government policies and business regulations.
Scalable taxes, if handled properly, can allow for the innovation and growth of businesses, without increasing wealth inequality. It means that companies can reach new heights, while citizens are still able to fend for themselves. Taxes are automatically handled to ensure that enough tax money goes towards social programs, without allowing individuals to simply not work.
Government regulations should only be in place for the purpose of enforcing ethical considerations, in order to ensure that morality plays a role in corporations. Examples include environmental standards, anti-discrimination and fair wages. This may not disable innovation, but instead shapes the direction of innovation to maintain the morality that was mentioned in the family values section.
Labor rights are a cornerstone of ensuring that employees continue to produce a company's profits. Unions should be allowed, as they can influence good changes in how companies manage their resources, but responsible money management by employees should still be valued and taught, in order to ensure that companies can continue to grow without sacrificing it's employees. Examples of how this could be done include stronger protections for gig workers, and a more robust minimum wage. However, with both examples, they would need to be balanced in such a way that causes minimal inflation and minimal increased costs for businesses.
Merging: A recent move that can be deemed as controversial, is to merge Canada, America and Mexico. I believe that, if culture is preserved and maintained effectively, this can be a win-win situation for everyone in these places.
Mexico's workforce can boost production of manufacturing, allowing for better economy. Mexico also has massive success with it's tourism and agriculture, allowing them to pull in profits and have a boosted economy.
America has economic power, higher education and cultural influence. These combined allow for a merging of all three involved places to be a massive benefit. Cultural influence would allow for the cultures of Canada and Mexico to be spread further in the world, keeping these cultures alive.
Canada is rich in natural resources, making it play a significant role in global energy markets. The income produced by this can feed back into a combined economy that could actually sustain itself perfectly. Canada also has good relations with a lot of countries, thanks to it's peacekeeping efforts. This could potentially reshape the battlefields of war, allowing for more peaceful methods of resolving conflict.
If all goes correctly, and the cultures of each individual place are preserved, the merging of all three could result in an extreme boost to the combined economies of all, which can assist with my personal views on how to switch up the economy.
Multilingual education and the protection of indigenous cultures would help with ensuring that the unique cultures of all three places would continue to persist, maybe even evolve.
Issues could include political differences, integration of policies and backlash from citizens. A merger would need to be managed in a way that citizens can accept, and that can respect or make compromise with the differing policies and political differences.
Okay. Time for the serious discussion about my exact political viewpoint.
It is an attempt at a balance that perhaps the entire United States, both liberal and republican, would like.
Feel free to have a look.
