Also included in the update are a few new palettes, based on characters from my previous little game-jam games. :)
Wrenwen’s palette comes directly from Owl Camp (the game she appears in), which, like Down Ward, was also a GameBoyJam entry, and my first game posted on this sight, or anywhere for that matter. Her palette is actually fairly close to the Down Ward colors, though a bit darker and moodier.
Fun side note
Stelvie is the little rust colored Archaeopteryx beside the last palette, but was Archaeopteryx really rust colored? How would one even begin to guess?
Recent investigation of Archaeopteryx feather fossils, via scanning electron microscope, suggested the presence of “melanosomes”, cells responsible for the pigmentation in feathers.
Modern birds have melanosomes in their feathers, and the shape and density of those melanosome cells can be correlated with the colors they produce.
So, it’s thought the shape of the fossilized melanosomes might indicate the original color of the fossilized feathers. Working from that assumption, the findings suggest that Archaeopteryx would have slate colored plumage, with darker feather tips, at least for the feathers that have been studied.
It seems Stelvie may be an outlier, or just very very dusty. :)
