Hi everyone! Thanks for joining us for our May Dev Log, we have lots of fun stuff to share.
Crowdfunding Updates
First I'd like to share that our crowdfunding campaign is ending soon for the Prologue, we plan on extending it for the rest of the year but will be taking down physical rewards in 4 days!
If you'd like exclusive Path of Kami Merch I recommend getting them soon before they're removed! Check out the campaign page here.
Dev Updates
We've been working on polishing, bug fixing, and prepping for the steam next festival that's right around the corner! We're also excited to share that we plan on releasing a soundtrack next month on Steam and Bandcamp.
Check out the Soundtrack Cover Art!
Day/Night Cycle
We've been working on putting together a dynamic day and night cycle, you'll be able to see beautiful sunsets and mystical nights!
World Building
We've also been working on some general world-building. Working on new props, adding more foliage, and more to fill up the world! Here are some examples from that:
Getting rid of cube placeholders!
We are getting rid of the glowing cubes and working on some statues to replace them! You'll have to find the following statues: Deer, Fox, and Monkey. When placing on pressure plates (shown above) you'll be able to unlock an important item, a spirit key! Spirit keys are conveyed in the demo right now as the purple spheres but we plan on replacing them soon with ema-inspired objects. Ema (絵馬, lit. "picture-horse") are small wooden plaques, common to Japan, in which Shinto and Buddhist worshippers write prayers or wishes. The ema are left hanging up at the shrine, where the kami (spirits or gods) are believed to receive them.
Spirit Keys WIP
We took a lot of inspiration from Ema's. These are going to be placed at the base of the statues and when the statues are placed on the correct pressure plates the Spirit Key will 'unlock' and you'll be able to collect it! Gather all three and you'll complete the demo.
We'd like to thank everyone for their donations to the game and to the crowdfunding campaign, every dollar helps us to be able to do what we do, thank you so much for your support!!
We hope you enjoyed today's update, have a wonderful weekend.
