Pretty damn brutally as well.
The survivors used the shards from the souls of the fallen to make The Sword of Evil's Bane. They used it to seal Peisma away and turned him and the wielder of the sword (the Ancestor of shadows)
Into a stone statue.
When the remaining ancestors felt their time in the multiverse was done, they returned to the statue and became statues themselves to keep the seal strong.
Recently, however a Crack has formed, and a piece of him has attached to our protagonist Jake.....
