The new PlanIt Alpha (version 0.50) is out right now! I’ve also added a playthrough video showing most of the features currently in the game. This update makes the game feel much more playable - added a ton of new features like: the ability to build walls; proper procedural generation; new creatures; new graphics and a better layout for the HUD.
I also fixed a ton of bugs and this version is far more optimised than before.

Update 1 - September 2013 - alpha ver0.50
*> Aware of collision bug with dead creatures - this will be fixed once they disappear at death. *SOLVED
*> Seemingly random lag issues towards centre of planet / near to the base. Also just general lag. *SOLVED
*> Depth issue with player - the legs currently rotate with the body, regardless of walking direction, and the depth of the legs is the same as the body’s.*SOLVED
> Major optimisation update - optimisation in a large variety of areas which completely removed any lag, at least on my computer.
> New creature - troll. Charges at the player, sometimes in groups, and can wield a variety of weapons (currently club or meat).
> New player graphics - with arms and proper leg animations. Looks far better, in my opinion.
> Crafting system update - now craftable items are split into categories and materials like bronze can be made from combinations of other materials. This section of the base looks a lot tidier.
> Major building update - you can now craft walls. These can be placed to block off areas, to use as defenses etc. The walls will automatically snap to nearby walls for ease of building, and you can rotate them; turn on/off snapping to a grid; build long walls with ease, etc..
> Added colour-coded items in the inventory - organised into materials, weapons, tools etc..
> Added loading progress bar while the planet is generating.
> Added more materials: bronze, bone, food
> Added Hunger system: your hunger bar now depletes as you play, and you must keep eating food to replenish it. When your hunger reaches zero, you start losing health.
> Added new items: meat, club, wooden wall, etc
> Updated the HUD - now player health, hunger and stamina displays where it should - in the top right of the screen, by the inventory.
> Repositioned the yellow arrow pointing to the base. It now sticks to the edge of the screen and shows you how far from the base you are.
> Can now hold “Tab” for information on how much of each material you have at the base.
> Added item quantity counter: now when you click on an item in your inventory to select it, a number next to its name shows how many of that item you have in your inventory. This also happens in the base: before you withdraw items, the number that you already have in your inventory is displayed.
> More prominent icons: made material icons and stocks in the base more prominent.
> Trees fade faster: trees used to fade too slowly, and remain too opaque. Now they go transparent quickly and from a greater distance.
