Programming Progress, and Challengers approaching!

MHT's been the one doing all the devlogs for UTTO, so it's about time that I do one as well! Well it's been a month since the last devlog, and with the onset of Summer Vacation for most of our team we've made a LOT of progress since then!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

PROGRAMMING

First off, as you all know we're basing the gameplay of the Otherground more on Deltarune ever since it came out. Now thanks to one of our talented programmers, Purssum, we now have a working Engine for the game! We are now in the process of creating an Alpha build, and only really need to develop the necessary OST and sprites/tilesets to help build a functioning test room. We're now one step closer to a working Demo!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

ART

Thanks to one of our spriters, Starlane, the Otherground now has a main palette from which all the sprites will be colored! This means that the colors of sprites and tilesets will now be far more consistent than those of Undertale (which was infamous for it's "ugly" overworld art). Star has also brought us into the direction of more detailed Overworld sprites as well, containing Anti-Aliasing and light shading, further enhancing our art design. In addition, a very talented spriter, Mufeet, has returned to the team and is helping us design new monsters, both generic and main cast! You can see three examples of which at the top of this devlog!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

MONSTERS

As most of our character devlogs have only focused on Louis, Renee, Sunny, and Hui, I believe it's about time that we change that =)

As I said before, Mufeet (assisted by Starlane) has sprited some of the general encounters you may find in the first area of the Otherground! They are (from left to right) an unnamed monster we currently called "Dorito Bandito", Grapemime, and Kime. These aren't the ONLY monsters you'll encounter, however, as there are many more of them in the works! Alongside the generic monsters, we've also got a member of the main cast complete (who's currently bobbing up and down at the top of this devlog). Pierre the Traveling Merchant, will appear periodically as you venture through the Otherground, and assuming you can afford it, will utilize his **special skills** to help protect you as well!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

That's it for this devlog, but rest assured we'll have plenty more to talk about by the next one! Until next time!

EVENTLOG: Welcome, Burke Day 2021!

Happy birthday, Sunny & Renee Burke- and happy 4th anniversary to the team! We've come a long way since the reboot about 2 years ago. :^)

In celebration of today, we have a small event going on! Read below for more!

It's been a long, long time. After many years of sheer development hell, the game is being canceled- but, if you don't mind, please read the attached article. Thank you all for the memories and experiences, you all really changed my life.

forget the professionalism, it's 4am and i almost fell out my chair when i saw this thank u all so much for 2k we're so close to the proof demo it's exciting just a few more things to finish up and we're ready to drop i hope it'll be worth the wait :^)

MICROLOG: Here's a special treat for 2k followers! How about a quick peek at our intro? We don't have it programmed in yet, and we only have a few slides finished thanks to ArtemArt as well as myself.

Hope you like them! :^) Avast the Eimmet Sea, 2XXX...

MICROLOG: A feature we've promised for a while and can finally confirm it coming: ambient creatures! As Louis and friends travel Mongale, there'll be small creatures that will hop, crawl, and fly around in each and every environment. Here's some examples!

MICROLOG: Just barely missed our shot. Don't worry, though! Everything except programming is ready to go, aside from a few lines in writing that need fixing and an optional track we wanna add. :^)

We should be able to drop super early in July, I promise!

It's been five years; half a decade.

It's late at night as I'm writing this, but I'm still in disbelief that Undertale turned 5 today.

I wished we could've released UTTO today as a gift to Undertale & its fans, but we'll keep working hard until then. :')

MICROLOG: Oops! I forgot to show off the map we devs made, drawn by LukeWarmGuy! This is Mongale Island, AKA what the title is referring to as the "Otherground". This is where the events of the game will unfold. Hope you like it, and huge thanks to Luke!

Discord Update: I'm on track to getting back in, but Discord keeps passing down the processing job, so it's naturally taking forever. They're doing their job, which is something to celebrate regarding their reputation.

Have some cute art for the server :)

DEVLOG: Happy late birthday, Undertale! We're going to show off a little something you might have already seen in our Discord, but for those who haven't, we hope you're excited. :^) Take a look below!
