I’ve gotten back from a two-week break, and am beginning work on the next big update! This is just a quick news article to remind everyone that the game is still being worked on.
My goals for the next update are:
The skeleton for the next level, which is a church, to be completed. (The level itself won’t be)
A Save/Load system will be implemented and working.
A map system.
A way to view previously viewed documents or items to reduce backtracking.
Any lingering bugs or issues will be fixed.
I’ve already written out the majority of the church level, and have begun modelling the architecture. Because I’m using better techniques, this level will both look and feel better than the first level did. I’m also expanding from only four rooms up to thirteen. Because of the size of the church and the way that the puzzles in it will function, I’m going to need to add a map. Not a standard “Press M and a diagram of the level will show up” kind of map, but one that I can integrate into the game without taking you away from gameplay.
On the note of progress, after I finish the church level, I’m going to return to the original level and see about cleaning it up/re-working some parts of it to use my more standardized ways of doing things. For example, I now construct the architecture with a modular “palette” of pieces (walls, floors, stairs, etc.) This isn’t how I modelled the house, but it allows for much better scale, detail, variety, and uniformity than my old method did.
Thank you for your interest!
