Progress Report - December 2020


Heya everyone, David here!

I know it's kinda lame making a development log now, having on mind that the page has just been created and that the game is still in very early stages of development, but I decided to do so nonetheless, and I plan doing so every first week of the month!

So, let's get started!

Team and personal life information:

I would like to inform y'all that we got a very first team member - Luka (toast#0072)!

Luka's role is concept artwork and ideas for items, weapons and armor. He made some very sick and epic armory and weapons that are planned to be added to the game!

On another note, high school is getting more and more rough having on mind that the first half of the year is ending and we still don't have all grades. Because of so, the development has been going very slowly, but we are making some progress! I expect the development the gradually increase after December 20th, as that's when we are getting a break! I will be able to focus a lot more on development until January 15 or less.


Gameplay Progress - 5%

Right now, the only part of the game to feature good/full gameplay is the intro sequence, same one shown in the preview on my YT channel.

As of now, little has been worked on Forest sequence, and it only has 2/6 main maps (+1 secondary map) and no enemies. Currently, I am working on battle system and adding items, weapons and armor to the game!

Currently added items are the following:

- "Weak Armor" class

Armor set that is mostly considered weak, but offers a solid start at the beginning of the chapter.

Currently contains:

- Wooden Chestplate

- Broken Wooden Helmet

- Wooden Shield

(this list may get expanded in Chapter 2 and higher)

- "Poligen Armor" Class

Armor that is stronger than Weak Armor class, but still not too strong. It is extremely light weight, due to ir being made by unidentified substance only referred to as Poligen.

Currently contains:

- Poligen Suit

- Poligen Helmet

- Pulsating Shield

- The Great Sword

The very first weapon you will get. It has a solid 20 ATK and gives 1 DEF, however removes 2 AGI points, due to its mass. Will be epic starting with it.

- Space Gun

Totally not a Terraria reference.

Anyways, guns are more of a thing for Susie, since the guy you are playing with prefers cold weaponry lol. It deals 25 ATK and due to its light-weight, it gives 2 AGI points. Also has a custom animation.

- Portable Laser Arm

I wonder to who does that refer to 👀?

Anyways, this is one of the stronger weapons and contains a special ability when equipped!

- Beads

This is for now the only accessory that has been added to the game. It takes away 100 MHP, however, it boosts ATK and DEF for 50! So, if you wanna quickly sweep weaker enemies, this bad boy is for you!


Soundtrack - 6/?

As if now, only 6 themes have been composed for the game, and those being the Title Theme, The Cave, The Forest, The Cave ending cutscene, Susie's Theme A, and battle theme for Plastelin Monsters! All of the tracks are available for listen on the game's page, with Neverending Coma and Cave With Many Stories being available on YouTube! The other tracks are planned to be released as well, be patient!

The tracks will also be released on SoundCloud and BandCamp (probably) once the whole OST is done!


Artwork and Sprites (<5%)

Character sprites for chapter one are mostly complete, with only sprites that are unfinished being C. Susie's sprites. Enemy sprites and attack animation sprites are currently being worked on and I am not sure when will they be complete. Sprites for the main character have been updated to be more in my style.

Weapon, Armor, Item and Skill icons are mostly done, with only sprites missing being Heal animation, and few more skills exclusive the Plastelin Monsters.

As of game's artwork, such as cutscenes, faces and dialogue graphics, only Susie's DG have been made, with Face graphics for her and [REDACTED] being worked on. Cutscenes, on the other hand, have not yet been worked on. Currently, there are three cutscenes with artwork planned to be made, those being Susie introduction and another surprises 👀


So, to summarize:

- Sprites of the main character have been completed

- Title Screen finally has a theme

- Title Screen CGI slightly modified

- Cave has a new theme: "Cave With Many Stories"

- Sprites of The Figure have been updated

- The Cave ending cutscene has a new theme: "What Now?"

- Chapter 1 is now being worked on!

- All16 items have been implemented

- 6/10 planned skills have been implemented (number will change in the future)

- 6 new tracks have been composed!


That is all for now, and I am sorry for not having more material to showcase, but right now there's still a lot of things to work on. Hope ya understand.

January 2022 (+December 2021) -Development Report

Finally, after being planned for a while now, Charge Shot has been added!

It becomes available after reaching 2000-2500 Score, and is extremely effective against normal enemies!

@Miles_Games is a Jolter to Watch! They post great game dev updates about the holiday-themed platformer TEAM SLAY-BELLS! Follow them before the quest ends on December 24 and you'll get Coins!

I kinda wonder would encyclopedia be useful in the game? Or just be a niche thing to have?

Maybe even reveal a lore detail or two, who knows?
