Hello again, everyone. Hope everyone’s doing well. Well, I got more news for you related to the game. Well, after some time working on Draco’s animations, he’s done. At least with his normal animations. I still gotta do his power up animations but that’s for later. But, even though he’s done, I still wanna keep tweaking them a little, just so they look good. I’m really happy how they turned out, honestly I’m amazed how smooth they are and how well they turned out. Now they’re not super smooth like the ones in Cuphead, but that’s okay, I’m trying to combine the hand drawn technique and 16 bit animation to make something unique.
Anyways, now that Draco’s animations are done, I can start with the enemy animations. I already posted one showing a Creep walking. It looks good so far, but I wanna tweak it a little. From what I’ve seen in games, enemies usually have fewer animations than the player/main character. So with that being said, enemies won’t take me as long. Bosses however are gonna require more time, but I’m not gonna rush it.
So once the enemies are down, I’ll sketch out the backgrounds. The backgrounds are gonna probably be one of the toughest things for me, because I have to paint them afterwards so I can mimic that 80s/90s background art. I have painted backgrounds before it’s gonna be tricky because I’m not used to making things without lines, like with the characters and objects. Still, I’m gonna do my best and keep trying.
Finally, once the backgrounds are sketched out, I’m gonna put everything in Game Maker and try everything out see how it looks. Once I’m satisfied, I’ll color, ink, and paint everything. I’ll show some of the progress but, I’m not gonna show EVERYTHING, just what think is important.
And with that, I’ll go ahead and wrap up this progress report. See you guys in the next update.
