Progress! Slowly but surely...

Things are coming along slowly for KoR.

My day job has been keeping me busy recently. I'm the CEO of a theatre company and we have a production debuting next month so, my time has been in demand.

I have, however, been itching to get back to developing KoR. I did so today and, I must say, I'm happy with how things are coming along.

I've been tweaking certain things. For example, I've been very aware of the game's need for fail safes to be in place. What happens when we fail to load some data that we need?

Until today, if the game failed to load your data fully, the game stayed on the loading screen. Now, the game checks when loading hasn't progressed for a while and tries again.

Also, I added the tavern and, by extension, the first NPC in the game. The barkeep in the village tavern is now the first resident of Raywin. He is the village's provider of booze. Drinking in the game will have interesting effects on things like combat. Your attacks won't be quite so successful but a wobbly target is a hard to hit target and even successful hits on you cause less damage. The added 'Dutch courage' also allows you to stumble into battles you'd usually be locked out of due to a lower level.

The best part of all of this is- the game play is almost there. I need to finish the mail system (you can receive but not send mail at the moment), add the combat, add a quest system, and then the game is pretty much ready to be played. It'll be mostly world building after that.

We are getting there!

Not a great gif. Exciting stuff though!

Going Down is now on Steam! If you like what you've seen so far, we'd appreciate a cheeky Wishlist!

Screenshot Saturday!

Going Down, psychological horror RPG about difficult choices and memories best forgotten on an elevator ride.

The story of 'Going Down' is falling into place nicely. The visuals are looking lovely. The atmosphere is spooky with more than a touch of mystery.

I am very happy with progress!

Started from scratch, and keeping organised!

Today's progress! A tidier save format than my old version. Demonstrated in images.

Old: Every piece of data needed it's own key

New: 1 key per player

How to make progress!
