[Progress Update #2.75] - Coders Needed!, again x2...

Y'ello. Its me again; didya miss me? don't answer that I already know you didn't

So you may be asking why I'm doing ANOTHER coders needed post so soon after the last one; well..

To make a short story, well, short

@Epoli left the team for an unspecified reason, leading us to have to formulate a new plan when it comes to coders, as our old one was for him to supervise a group of CTF coders as a form of quality control; obviously we cannot do that anymore.

We've decided to move to GameMaker Studios 2, so if you code in GMS 2 and want to apply, read on!

Application info

We have 2 groups of coders that we'll need for various parts of the game; those being:

  • ACT 1 coder (1-2)

  • Standard Coders (3+)

The requirements for each vary, so there's seperate application info for each.

ACT 1 coders!

ACT 1 is probably the longest ACT, and definitely the most unique; so it needs it's own dedicated coders.

There's a fair bit more requirements and info for this ACT that you'd need to know if you're thinking of applying.

  • The main gameplay of ACT 1 is a platformer with different abilities gained throughout; e.g a bone platform you use to reach areas that are usually too high up for your regular jump, therefore, you're gonna need to make your own engine for the platforming and the abilities (may change when we get coder(s) with an engine already).

  • There are encounters in ACT 1 that are DELTARUNE style battles; so you need to co-operate with the standard coders to modify the standard battle engine, as to keep the physics consistent throughout.

Standard coders!

This category of coder is simply a standard UT fangame coder, with the usual overworld and battle segments. This one is probably self-explanitory, but I shall go through the requirements nonetheless.

  • You must have your own engine (may change when we get coder(s) with an engine already).

  • Your engine must have physics that are similar to UT's (doesn't have to be exact but it must be close).

  • You must be able to create good patterns (not too hard, not too easy, must be no-hittable).

Yeah, what else did you expect?

For all coders

This goes for all coders:

  • You are MUCH more likely to be picked if you can do both of the categories.

  • If/when there's multiple coders for any category, the engine used will have to be the same throughout (duh), so the one with the most progress made in it will generally be the one used; unless an alternative is vastly superior (better physics, optimization, etc); this is simply to avoid unneeded do-overs.

  • You must also be able to co-operate with other coders (duh x2).

  • You must check in a few times a week simply to let us know you're not just doing nothing; you don't need to always be making progress, just let us know what you're up to.

Applications

In your application you must provide examples of previous work and your time-zone (so we know if you're asleep/in school or ignoring us).

If you want to apply there's 2 ways to do so:

  • DM me or another team member here on GameJolt or on Discord with your application.

  • Join our Discord server and use the team-application channel so another team-member can check it if others are offline(this is the preferred method).

That's it for this post!

Progress is being made on non-coding matters, we're not dead yet!

Cya next time!
