Unless I get bugs reported, I won’t be updating this game at the current time, despite my earlier plans!
That being said, let’s face the truth. It was my first game with Game Maker Studio and while it is not too bad when playing it (at least I hope so), the code behind it is horrible. It is a horrible mix of code and drop actions. Redoing all that would take a lot of time and would basically end in rewriting the whole game.
Therefore, I decided to start over with a new game and sequel to this one. So far I plan on at least 10 different stages and again, a survival mode including persistent character progression. So this time it is not just endless spawns of enemies on rails, there is gonna be more to it. It will also be 100% coded, so no more DnD Actions.
For the sequel, I have also liberated the ship, you can move up and down too instead of just left and right. While it worked for this game, I feel I can do so much more if you can move freely. I have also licensed more art, I am in talks with someone about better music and so forth. I hope the next title is gonna be a high quality game that everyone likes playing. This also gives me the chance to integrate Game Jolt right from the start and do it right, instead of just hacking it in.
All this will take some time though, but I am on it and I genuinly hope some people do enjoy playing Space Potatoes!
