Realm of Rulers 0.7 Progress Sneak Peek


Version 0.7 Development

Version 07 of Realm of Rulers in in the testing phase as all content is implemented for the patch. Expect the patch to drop soon but for now we can show you what will be included in 0.7.

AI Standing Still

For all previous versions of RoR the AI sometimes stood still and didn’t do anything. This was a major problem that kept appearing throughout versions as it was fixed then broken again.

The lumberjack had major issues as they mostly wouldn’t walk anywhere. This has been fixed for 0.7 and spawned AI now almost instantly find a target resource to move to.

Little bugs with the AI will be fixed over time as the AI classes are iterated all the time.

Outlaw Camps

We have added two more outlaw camps to the game with one smaller one in the forests and one larger base in a new segment of the map. Here are some screenshots of how they look in game:

More outlaw camps will be added as time goes on.

Saving Time of Day

This was a big feature that was left out from the original few builds of RoR but we now have it implemented into the game!

Before you could log out and reset the time of day without going to a settlement to sleep. This didn’t feel seamless so we now gave the day night cycle a makeover!

Reworked Construction Mode

The first version of the construction mode gave the player the ability to place buildings wherever they chose but it had its downsides…

Players could build buildings underneath the floor, in mountains, or at inaccessible places. The second version of this mode introduced snapping to angles based on the terrain. This worked well for stopping some floating buildings however buildings could sometimes be placed underneath the floor.

The third version that will be included into 0.7 snaps objects’ locations and rotations to the floor and locks the object to the floor to prevent going underneath. This mode also has a toggle so if the snapping is not desirable the Z key can move between snapping and freeform building. This new system can also be moved forwards, backwards and rotated with the Q and E keys like usual.

This overhaul makes building in RoR a little bit more fun and user friendly.

Various Other Bugs

This patch is full of small but important changes and fixes to improve the experience for new and experienced players. The full change log will be available when 0.7 is out.
