As Mortis explained, it's not going to be just a port to a new engine, but rather a complete overhaul with lots of new content! The engine chosen for the remake was settled to be Unity.

Unfortunately, Alias Conrad Coldwood, the original composer, will not be working on the remastered soundtrack.

"[...] Ultimately, he [Coldwood] felt nervous about signing anything and disappeared. However, he has stated that he doesn't mind that his music isn't being used, and he has no problem with the new soundtrack. [...]"

Heartbreaking news to say the least. The original soundtrack was simply iconic. Eerie and atmospheric, but also banged when needed.

That being said, they reached out to Toby Fox for help instead, and he complied!

Toby Fox is best known for developing such hit indie games as UNDERTALE and DELTARUNE but also contributed to various soundtracks over the years, including (but not limited to) titles like Homestuck, Pokémon Sword and Shield, and even Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

While Toby is greatly honored to be working on this project because his works have been directly inspired by it in the past, he really understand and worries about the difficulty of replicating the original feel and style of the soundtrack. Which is great. You don't see people caring about the source material too often these days.

He spoke about that and a handful of other things in the interview he recently gave, which can be found here.

Two songs have already been published: the trailer music and the zone 1 battle theme. Toby collaborated with Camellia on the second one. Do you think it fits within the in-game universe? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments.
