This game is progressing, and it’s progressing fast! After my blow away of finally getting a successful Multiplayer script into the game, the game has become a somewhat icon to MMO in the BGE.
Starting off with some features the game already has implanted for a decent MMO exprience.
Python has granted me the ability to implant MYSQL support into BGE. MYSQL is responsible for logging you into the game and identifying who you are during. For example, when you log out of the game, then the game will write a save file using your username. When you log back in you will be able to auto-load your game. Server list and shown-details is also a great MMO tool for users who want to connect to a certian server. MYSQL is used to save the information from the host’s computer to the MYSQL database, and then the game shares it publicly to its user. Users will know what type of server it is. PVP/RP? RP level: Low, Med, High? Whom is hosting this server? Rules of the server? This way users will know exactly before connecting to the server what this server is and its rules are. Some hosts could be very rude and cause the player have a bad time playing the game.
Now let’s get into the actual gaming part. The MMO features is used by sending messages back and forth from client to server from server to client. The game will summon the right information it needs to create an exact image of what is going on in the server’s side. That is basically how it works. Everyone will be shown in their exact location, their exact animation, and their exact orientation. This game does not host the whole application, but hosts to send messages so that means it will not cause as much lag as a standard MMO.
Chatting is also included in the game. It will show your username if you are speaking to OOC (global chat for PVPers). It will also have a local chat in the near future. The chatting works quite well.
Battle-system is slowly progressing(but has a good system going as from now). Sooner or later I will have it finished, but once it’s completed I will show you the final product.
What’s next to come??
CUSTOMIZATION. This will come as soon as have the enemy AI attacking me back. This is probably the last thing I need to add in for a global test. :))
