(The following is a review from my account at the Sandbox)
“Bot.”: A shortened version of Robot.
This the type of game i was literally looking for when i found it. i got it as it was a platformer, and had generally low expectations. but was i correct? heck no! the amount of detail that went into this game is amazing, the 3d models! the ladder! the change view ability! the boss! the only glitches in this game are the ones you see in regular console games. So the graphics I would give a 5/5
this game is a hard game. But it’s hard in a good, challenging way. This game does some small things that make it so that when you fail, it really does feel like you screwed up and nothing else. for instance, often in platform games, you will walk off a platform accidentally when trying to jump a gap. in this game, that will STILL happen, but when you fall, you can still make a mini jump that, although not useful for surviving, will still help remind you that YOU screwed up, and NOT the game. in each level your only goal is to find an odd medallion/coin with a picture of your face on it. and doing so is either simple, or simply complex. for instance, in the 2nd level, you will find yourself walking through a grassy area, and then going up a platform to a bridge. on that bridge is the coin. but in the FIRST level, you will find you self going through a simple platforming thing, only to see you’re missing a platform required for getting to the coin. so you go back and press a button, and come back to the platformng bit and.. VOILA!! you can make i. not really simple, but not really complicated. it’s SIMPLY complicated Gameplay: 5/5
This game only has one 4 levels. because it is a demo, but it really doesn’t matter because this game has SO MUCH TO FIND! I mean really, the replay ability is fantastic because of all the secrets to find. i wasn’t sure what a, “secret” was at first, but trust me. you’ll know once you find one. i could go on for hours on the detail and overall FUN factor in this game but let’s get on with the BAD stuff, the game may be challenging, but it can get frustrating at times, and if you don’t know what to do, you’re bound to lose interest, even when you find out what to do.
Couple that with the sound. the footsteps of robobot himslef, don’t match up perfectly with the sound effect used. it isn’t THAT bad, but it was enough to notice. and the lack of music really sucks the atmosphere out of everything. Sound: 2/5
the story of this game is really unknown. the first boss, (whose name is Basher, say hi) is supposed to be trying to “Stop you from accomplishing your goals.” what? What goals? All I’ve been doing is collecting these Medal-majigs! what goals? the story is fairly weak and could have been you know.. IN THE GAME!! story: 2/5
but overall this is on my top ten favorite sandbox games list and think it deserves a console game. if not that, at least a playthrough by you.
PS press F1 while playing. your welcome.
