Today was busy as well! I just hope I can make it, there’s so much I want to add still…
I didn’t have as much time as on friday, but I added a boss mechanism, an extra enemy, the mechanism to clear stages and kind of an automatic restart and difficulty progression when you beat all four stages (The borders even turn red!), so for now it’s teeeechnically infinite. Until it crashes or becomes physically impossible to stay alive. Like in the old days.
What I still -have- to add is at least one more enemy type, the other three bosses with some kind of shooting pattern of their own, and the scoreboard/trophy integration, which is kind of a must for this Game Jam.
As for what I -want- to add is, some random bonus point objects, the “get a life every X points” thing (extra easy but I forgot to add it in), a main screen with a small “attract mode”, and a bit of a transition between stages to justify the name I gave to the game.
Maybe tomorrow after the Jam ended I’ll make a post explaining my design decisions and why everything is like it is… in my game.
I’ve been peeking a bit at other competitors here and on Twitter fearing getting discouraged by other, better developers, but honestly it’s been more of a fun experience, seeing what everyone is coming up with. I’m also a bit relieved that noone else went the exact same way I did, haha ;;
So anyways! I’ll go bed now as I gotta have lunch early and flee homewards to keep on coding. I hate to be wasting precious time away from the development equipment but alas, family is family.
Good luck to every other developer participating, and to gamers, I hope you have fun!
