I lost all my GM:S game resources so I have nothing to lose! What am I using instead you may be wondering? Not shockingly at all: Unity! Sure, the spike of difficulty is huge from GM:S to Unity, but I believe it will be well worth it. I'll have another tool under my belt of GML, JAVA, PHP, and (some) C++.
You may be thinkin': You're going from a 2D engine to a 3D engine?! Well, yes and no. I'm starting off with the 2D parts of Unity (4.3), just to get a grasp of UnityScript/C# (nobody uses Boo) and how the hiearchy and all that works. My partner is going to learn 3D modeling, or have their friend do some models so perhaps there will be a 3D game produced.... I mean, I can always do something as simple as [Super Hot](http://superhotgame.com "Super Hot"), being boxes and basic, red people. Although, I'd prefer any 3D game produced by OWG to be abstract, with a combination of high and low poly, creating a unique effect.
There's only one drawback, and it really isn't that much of one anyway, but I've got next to no money that I can put towards indie development. Perhaps if I get a game greenlit or make an extremely popular GameJolt creation I would be able to get the pro version.
Well, that's really about all I've to say, speaking of which -- if a 3D modeler is reading this, I'd gladly have you create models -- just don't expect too much revenue. (I've some bitcoin miners that mine around 7gh/s which is decent, but not amazing either.)
