Bendy fans you know what day it is. Here's a very special written devlog with some updates and small reveals!
Demo Feedback
Later this month we're coming up on 3 months of Reel Rampage being out into the world! I'm still in utter disbelief that it's not only out, but has apparently been received pretty well! It gives a lot of motivation to the whole team to keep going and make this fangame the best it can be with future content.
I just want to give another, wholehearted thank you to everyone who's checked out the game so far! And if you have any feedback or suggestions, don't hesitate to send them our way! While we won't be releasing any new updates until we have more significant content ready, we're keeping notes and actively implementing anything from fans we agree on.
So What's Chapter 2 About?
But let's look forward to the future... Treacherous Trio: the next level on the Master's Pen journey. For the doll artifact, Malak is sending you to the Heavenly Toys factory. Despite it being a singular zone stage, danger comes in numbers as the Butcher Gang come out to the play. The Piper, the Fisher, and the Striker will work as a team and up the ante of the Projectionist.
The stage is currently deep in production. We have a rough draft of the script and zone layout, both of which will likely evolve as we realize them over development. Here's some peeks at what we've been working on though!

Chapter 2 Portal Icon(s)
On April Fools I posted the following image showing off portal icons for each Butcher Gang member.

While this was playing off an earlier joke tweet saying there would be separate levels for the Piper, the Fisher, and the Striker, don't worry there's only one Butcher Gang stage in Master's Pen. But all three portal icons will be used!

In every instance a portal icon for Treacherous Trio will be loaded (except probably the portal itself), the choice of icon will be random amongst the three. It's a fun, purely cosmetic idea to hopefully add some charm to the game's silliest stage.
Overhauled Radio!
Unrelated to Chapter 2's development is something I didn't get to do before the demo released. The interactable radio in the Gallery allows the player to listen to every song in the game and leave it playing as they explore the location. However, the original UI was more on the rudimentary side.

Its look was inspired by Super Dark Deception's music player in the Archive Room, but over time I started to feel it could be so much more. In March I took some time to retool the entire thing (partially thanks to Argo's phenomenal work on the music player in Dark Destiny) and here's the end result!

It still needs some refinement here and there, but I'm already much happier with the presentation! It was a lot of fun to design covers for the game's custom music, and as an extra treat here's the one for Chapter 2.

The Game Plan (CALL TO ACTION)
As the end of the demo stated, the next planned release will contain the complete Chapter 1 (intro and hub area) as well as Chapter 2.

While this is currently still the case, there have been internal discussions about potentially altering this. So here I ask the following:
Would you prefer the full Chapter 1 to release separately from Chapter 2?
If we did this, we'd certainly pack a fair bit of bonus content to justify a singular release. Things like the aforementioned radio changes, Discord RPC, controller support, and maybe even a peek at powers so you can use them in Reel Rampage's replay mode.
Right now I can say that while the remaining portions of Chapter 1 aren't particularly massive when it comes to playtime, there's a fair bit to appreciate and it helps minimize the gap between releases. Really curious to hear your guys' thoughts on this!
Thanks for reading, and have a great rest of your day. Goodbye!
