Showcase #1

#gamemaker

So I was thinking about this for a long time and I've decided that I will divide this game into 5 different chapters. That way I can release the game in a more efficient way and actually serve something for you to play.

And I've just updated the screenshots of the game. So no more outdated stuff. Feel free to check it out on the page.

Alright let's talk about general stuff.
What I've added so far to the game is:

  • Xbox gamepad support.

  • 1 new song.

  • 1 easter egg.

  • Couple of puzzle mechanics.

    • Switches. One of the key mechanics of the game. They can activate elevators, doors, moving platforms and even more puzzle related items when powered by an energy source. Which connects to another puzzle related item.

    • Item holders. If it's holding an item that carries energy in itself, it absorbs that energy from that item and uses it to power a puzzle item. Such as switches and computers.

    • Doors. Can be opened and closed by powered switches.

    • Energy Loaders. Makes Karter change between 2 energy states: Light and Dark.

    • Light and Dark lasers. When Karter is in the light state, he is able to pass by light lasers. In dark state he is able to pass by dark lasers. Simple enough.

    • Moving platforms. Moves in a certain direction when activated by a switch.

    • Jumping platforms. Makes Karter jump super high when stepped on it.

    • Elevators. Same as moving platforms. But cooler.

  • Elevators.

  • Even more elevators.

  • EVEN EVEN MORE ELEVATORS.

  • you got the point. elevators.

So this is it for this showcase.

Oh and,

elevators.

Where it all began... In a dark, thunderous night. In a dark, lonely room.

That slug literally has more life experience than me.

Here's some of the concept arts of the game some of which are almost a year old at this point. I wanted to share them because I know from myself that people enjoy to see how game ideas were created/developed before the full release. So here ya go!
