GAME IS NOT DELAYED! I want to make that clear before anything else.
There's been a pretty big hitch in development that has come up in the recent weeks, that being performance issues.
The game itself is well optimized, and runs very smoothly in builds (This was extensively worked on by me and tested during the first playtest).
However, since adding the opening area (the outside section), the editor's performance has decreased pretty drastically.
The above image is just from attempting to reload the game after death. Usually freezes for 5~ minutes and then has to be restarted.
The main issue is how I handle loading the game. While it works fine when the game is an exe file (since things are only loaded when they NEED to be), in the editor it loads everything at once, no matter what.
This is basically going to force me to split the game into a few different sections which will likely take more time away from posting teasers and a final trailer may no longer be possible.
But this is also good! With these changes the game will perform even better upon release!
Something was inevitably going to cause problems eventually. That's just how game development is. Luckily, I have given myself more than enough time to iron out these issues, since the game is now 95-98% complete.
