Some setbacks, and the current state of the game

Hi everyone! I have an announcement and some things to explain.

Crash has respectfully parted ways from the team. I'm completely supportive of his decision and wish him well with future endeavors, and I ask that you all continue to support him and his work as he's very talented and has put very valuable effort into this project and will continue to make great things on his own terms! www.helloitscrash.com / @helloitscrash on BlueSky

With that being said, this puts us out of a lead programmer experienced with gamemaker for the time which means that someone else will eventually take the reigns to continue where we're left at. I'll try to be on the lookout for some new help, and of course if anyone is interested in commission work my inbox is open on twitter/X @Vitch_P. But this is probably going to take some time and I always like to be optimistic when it comes to creative stuff but I'm a little unsure of how this is going to progress.

I need to talk about some things regarding this game's development. It's taken a long time and I appreciate that it still gets new eyes following it from time to time, but development has been a bumpy ride.

Throughout developing this game I've gone through multiple events such as losing all 3d assets and restarting from scratch, moved through multiple different states, completely redirected the story, shifted from multiple different concepts for it, changed render engines in blender, changed up gameplay, and a lot more that I can't really explain in one post. Juggling all of this on top of working in national parks and maintaining day to day life is not the most glamorous experience sometimes. I'm very picky about my vision for this game and unfortunately I can be indecisive and want to redo specific things, and this has kind of gotten me and the game's progression into hot water before.

I've been pretty hyper-fixated on working on this project for a long time now. I loved working on the original TWoCaO and I love working with people to create new experiences that honor the hearts of people in this community, and it means a lot to me that people found the original somewhat enjoyable. I'm a passionate artist and I love to share my work but I'm also a perfectionist which means it has to be absolutely right before I put anything on display. I used to love regularly posting regular artwork but when you're focusing on creating an entire game that you love that you need to keep secret for a while it can kind of suck up all your energy. For me it can be really isolating and unhealthy and I should probably consider checking in more from time to time even when I'm having doubts about showing anything! I've always wanted to seem definitive and certain of what I'm doing but the truth is that game dev is challenging and has a lot of curveballs and I definitely haven't gone about it perfectly. I still love it though. I just don't want to seem ridiculous/hysterical or let anyone down. This game has changed a lot and the actual game's build only has one out of four levels programmed along with some cinematic/interactive bits.

This game is a fnaf fangame at heart because I love fnaf as a franchise, community, and a game medium. But I also love horror games, horror movies, drama, and art that reaches out to people. I would say that this game has evolved into a sort of personal psychological horror experience that explores some painful subjects. I've been working on this plot and its characters for a while. I poured my heart and soul into the story and I hope that I can explain more of it to everyone at some point because I've felt the most definitive in its trajectory and have the clearest vision of it since development begun. The story is probably the biggest factor of why this has taken such a while.

But like I said, if it's going to be a good game it has to be done right and I'll be needing help for sure.

With all this being said I want to take responsibility and I SINCERELY apologize to anyone who's been looking forward to this game, especially if you've been here since the beginning. I've been frustrated that things have taken so long, but I love designing games and stories and I don't think that will change even with all its hardships. I want to keep going at it. I might need to relax a little in between though lol.

Thanks for reading. I love this community. I love fnaf. I want this game to release one day. Sorry that it's taken so long and sorry about all the setbacks. I'll attach some things that I've been working on lately if it's intrigues anyone.

Until then, I will come back! I ALWAYS COME BACK..............
