You know, I’m considering dropping Godot for GameMaker
But GameMaker has a paid license if I want to make money from my game, though it's way easier to use. It’s basically made for dumbs (like me)
On the other hand, Godot is completely free, but it’s giving me a really hard time lately... so maybe it's time for a change.
Since Cooking with Greddy is coming out later this year (I might even give it to you guys as a Christmas present if all goes well), I think I still have some time. And honestly, I won’t make any money off CWG anyway. I wasn't sure if I had to pay for GameMaker even without making a profit, but I just looked it up and turns out I don't. I just can't do merchandising.
Anyway, I can always switch engines after releasing CWG, either the full game or just the demo.
To be honest, I was already studying GameMaker a while ago.
And hey, who knows, maybe I will pay for it eventually. But to do that, I’d need to make money somewhere else first, like taking commissions or starting a YouTube channel. I’d use subtitles, since YouTube never gave me a dubbing option (and I refuse to use AI voices). I could set up a LivePix for Brazilian and a Ko-fi for the international crowd. But thinking about it, that means I’d have to manage both a Portuguese channel and an English channel. Is that even worth it?
Hit me up with some ideas on how I could make a few bucks on the side.
Well, maybe I really will switch.
Yeah, I’m moving to a new engine right after the demo. That’s it for now.
Bye-bye, my stray dogs
