Stanley's: Rebooted

Stanley's: Rebooted September Devlog (Reposted because I forgot to put it on the game page lol)

I have made quite a bit of progress with the game this month. Not the most progress I've ever made within the span of a month, but I would say that a decent amount has been done. Ever since school started back in August for me, that has slowed me down on development with this game. A lot of what I have so far was made over the summer, when I started back in early June. Much more is to be done with the game and it definitely won't be out until maybe late May of 2024, and even that is a somewhat stretch. 3D is very new to me and I'm learning as I go. I'm definitely getting better with blender and GDevelop. I kinda wish I didn't use Gdevelop as it has performance issues, but I've made so much progress that I can't really switch now. It's not terrible, but it could definitely run better. And the fact that I'm still nowhere near done with the base gameplay is a little worrying as it means that performance can just get worse and worse as I add more stuff to the game. I will do my best to optimize it, but for now, I need to worry about the actual development of the game. I want to make the game as good as I can and not make it super boring. It's already getting hate and people are saying that the designs are boring and that they can make them better, even though they don't even use blender and don't understand how difficult it is. The models in this game are my first ever complete 3D models I've ever made, so they don't look spectacular. I'm not trying to brag, but I don't think they look terrible for them being my first models made in blender. But yeah, I just want the game to turn out good and not be some bland piece of garbage like my Scratch games.

What I've added so far:

The Office

  • The ability to look around

  • A somewhat clean camera system

  • Working doors

  • Improved graphics from what I originally had back in July

  • Fitting sound effects

  • Some OST - with the help of my friend @Alrod

  • Intro cutscene (for when you start the game for the first time)

  • Some of the phone guy script has been written - being voiced by @TheRedEncryption who has also voice acted for the intro cutscene in ONAS: Demolition

  • Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_953zWeCac

  • Some animated jumpscares have been finished

  • Some extra VHS Tapes that haven't been posted on YT

  • Parts of the main story have been plotted out

We did it y'all.

I can't believe it's already been over half a year since Stanley's: Rebooted released. Feels like it was just last week, and I was really happy to see that most people enjoyed it, besides the performance issues lol. Thank you for making this possible. :)

One year ago today, the first teaser trailer for Stanley's: Rebooted was released.

The game has definitely come a long way and I'm happy with the way it turned out :)
