Hello! Flake here. I promise this post won't be as shilly as the previous ones.
At last, this project has arrived at its first large milestone: the first official progress update. One might ask: How did we get here so quickly?
Well, I'm here to say that progress has been slow. Small things here and there have been getting done. Song updates are underway, but I'm afraid I can't show them off quite yet. They need a little more time in the oven.
I've been working on concepts for areas, particularly color scheme and atmosphere. Here's a sneak peek at my thought process...
That's all you're getting, unfortunately. I want to wait until the area in question is fully realized and in a tangible state to show it off.
In other news, THE GAME EXISTS!
Yeah, really!
I have slowly been chipping away at the beginnings of this game's engine over the course of the past month or so. It's... still in development. Unfortunately, I am a fairly novice programmer, so I've had my fair share of mishaps.
(Don't ask me about programming Kiefer's walk cycle. We don't talk about it.)
Thankfully, I've arrived at the point of everything that I have worked on thus far having been completed and fully functional (to a degree, at least).
(This is a work in progress and may be subject to change.)
That said, I've still got a lot of learning to do as a programmer. But this is a big step toward not entirely sucking at it.
Anyhoo, uh... That's all, unfortunately.
I was hoping to have more content ready to reveal, but I've been pretty busy lately and motivation has had its ups and downs. Don't worry, though. Progress should pick up again soon enough, and I'll be ready to show off those battle themes next time.
