Howdy, everyone! I wanted to discuss the current state of development for CODENAME: Determination. I will be going over what I am currently doing with the game in a technical manner, the two new game modes, and some miscellaneous stuff.
Reverting to "Photon Networking"
Unfortunately, while I was implementing the new multiplayer solution I talked about previously, many obstacles stopped me from programming the functionality I wanted for the game. I was unable to synchronize player data, properly join servers, and make sure the list server was functioning properly. I had to go through four different hosting providers, even then I had to contact a close friend to host a server for me, which I never used.
I decided that if I wanted to get this update out quicker and implement what I wanted; I should move back to Photon Networking. I went with this choice and now I am hurdling through these complications. Additionally, I can work from where I left off with Photon Networking (meaning no having to start from nothing).
However, I will be hosting my own Photon Networking server to bypass the 20-player limit that the dedicated host restricted me to. This bumps the maximum players to one hundred and let me permit the creation of your own rooms in the server!
Violent Tag & Private Matches
Violent tag will receive a polishing up as it's currently considered playable at its minimum. When this update comes out, you can expect more game mechanics to be in place for this game mode!
What about these "private matches" you're saying? If you're wondering about that, you and your friends can join a private room with no one else but yourselves! This makes it great to do quick games of violent tag. Note, awards will be disabled in private matches to disallow players getting it easily through friends intentionally throwing matches.
What is currently in the game at this moment? As I said before, private matches, and traps to prevent enemy player movements for a few seconds! There's also random matchmaking (with any players) with each game allowing five players max to prevent overcrowding.
What other game mechanics are you planning to implement? I am planning to add modifiers to the cobweb traps (such as invisibility from far distances and longer ensnare time), which can be bought from coins you earned from each match (no in-app purchases and advertisements). This could bring a slight twist to the game. Don't worry about fresh players being matchmade with players who grinded for coins to get powerful modifiers. These new players will be given an amount coins at the start to help them gain a slight advantage.
Introduction of the "House Designer"!
Something that has never been done before in CN:D! A house designer! Players will be able to design a new home for themselves and allow other players to check it out! Note, you won't see players in your home unless you start a game in your home and give other players either a code to join or open your house to the public.
A good amount of furniture is will be available at the start so players can design unique home layouts! More furniture will be added into the game, either needing to be purchased or just given out for free! (Again, the coins will be given for free by just playing the game. No in-app purchases.) However, I may just give all the furniture away free entirely. Who knows?
Conclusion
This major needed update for the game will be coming very soon. Y'all can count on it. This will be the biggest update CN:D will ever have by date!
