Hey guys, it’s firefly!
I wanted to inform you all that we aren’t dead and development is still moving forward. We’ve been a bit quiet, I know, but it’s because we haven’t had too much we are allowed to share. However, I think it’s about time we give you guys an update on the current direction of the project.
Word on the Demo: No, the demo isn’t ready yet. I know we had previously estimated this summer, but that just isn’t possible as it stands. Our new estimate is Late 2018, and at the very latest, early 2019. We know this is probably disappointing to hear, but we are doing what we can to work quickly and efficiently. We don’t want to release a broken game after all. We will keep you all posted.
Character References: After quite a while of promising this, the character references are now finally being made as we speak by our Head Artist, OD/Goshenart. As of 5:19 PM EST, they are streaming on Twitch and will be drawing some of the references on stream. If you’re interested in seeing them made, you can check out the stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/goshenartod
One-Off Comics: Those are still happening! I know it’s been a while, but me and Vinpie will actually be working on the script for the next one within the next few days, so stay tuned and keep an eye on that Tumblr! ;P
Tidbit Regarding Gameplay: While we don’t have the demo ready as stated above, our programmer PeriBooty (Shad)/ShadowTheClood has been hard at work to get the engine to a fully playable state. With that, I can share a small tidbit about something we’ve added to the Overworld. Diagonal movement! Similar to the Mother games, characters now have sprites specifically for diagonal movement, rather than it defaulting to the sprite of your first input. You can see an example of it in the following screenshot, which was taken in an incredibly messy test room.
And that concludes today’s devlog! Thank you all for your patience. The team looks forward to giving you more content very soon. Have a nice day!
