A long time ago, back before I started drawing. I purchased my first commission from an artist I've been following, and it felt great. So I made a very big mistake. I ask publicly if people have their commissions open. I was bombarded with messages saying, "My commissions are open, want to talk?"
It was very overwhelming
I didn't know what I was doing, so I just accepted their offers left and right. One for $150 another for $140 and two for $70
In the end, only two were completed. One of the artists died which I feel sorry about and I never heard back from the other artist.
Of the two that were completed in my eyes, one was worth the $70 I spent, and the other I felt scammed out of $140
That day, I learned that I should be closed in, and never ask for commissions publicly again. And to better be careful of what I spend my money on
