But, how?! Alright, lets talk.
This possibility has been consideration from me for an insanely long time but i never thought it could be possible.
I never gave it that much thought because gamejolt had always been fnaf fangames' household, and while that still remains true for these fangames, the solution was simple.
DON'T make it a fangame. Make it an INSPIRED game.
To be specific, TNWPC will no longer be using or referencing any FNAF of fnaf's content like characters, story, locations nor music. The part that is inspired is obviously the gameplay, which everyone who will play the game will be able to notice right away, but gameplay concepts or ideas is not something you can copyright just like that.
TNWPC while it is similar to fnaf in its genre (Survival Point and Click Horror game [with cameras]) everything surrounding the game is it's own, unique survival mechanics, style, story, characters, etc, making this possible!
Extra info about the game regarding this change:
- What about the gamejolt page? Only a demo including the first 2 Nights of The Nights with Phone Reconnected will be released.
- What's gonna happen to [Copyrighted material shown in a background]? All the backgrounds currently shown will get updated replacing every copyrighted asset with something of my own, you'll see them when the steam page goes public.
- Will the game cost money now? Yes, although since everyone was expecting to download the game for free here on gamejolt i'll be pricing the collection lower than i couldve, i think something around 4-8 bucks for the entire collection should be very nice for everyone!
- How's the development and when do you think you'll release the game? Oh, boy. Ok so with this change i'm alot more comfortable with spending more time working on this project and i will not want to rush anything. Sorry but this game still has a really long way before it's released, especially now, i've been avoiding releasing trailers or big teasers for that very reason, i don't want to hype anyone with the game still having a really long way to go.
I hope everyone's supportive of this change, this game is and still will be taking alot of my time and having the chance to release it on the biggest pc platform for a (very small) price tag is really exciting as someone who always wanted to give the video game market a shot.
Expect the Steam Page to be public at some point in January! (Alongside the 2 Background reveals that i promised some time ago!)
SEE YOU WHEN THAT HAPPENS EVERYONE!!!!
