So I noticed I’ve had a good few people follow this game and I want to thank you and the other 1300 or so people who’ve played. This is by far my most popular game and despite my cynicism about how horror does much better on Gamejolt I am very thankful to all of you who have played and especially those of you who have taken the time to make a video. It’s almost a month and a half since I released this and there’s still people downloading the game.
So what’s next?!?!
A lot of people really enjoyed this game but it was definitely rushed and I think there’s a lot more I could have done. However rather than trying to work more on this I’ve decided to start a new pixel horror project. One with a bit more space for interesting game design and story telling. Not too much has been decided yet and work is slow as I’ve started back in college since I released Broken Paradox. However I can give you some info on the next project.
Name:
So currently the project is being called “The Big House”. This name although it seems a bit simplistic is explained more by the Premise.
Premise:
I’m from Ireland. It’s a beautiful country with amazing history, interesting folklore, and some wonderful culture. However very few games made about Ireland explore outside of our folklore. I’ve always wanted to make something that will show an interesting and often less explored side of Irish culture, so I came up with the idea for The Big House.
Since the 1500s up until the last century the English sought to control and own Ireland and for a long time they succeeded. During the time that the English occupied Ireland, the Irish land was dealt out between many English families. Much of Ireland was divided into Estates with a single big house. The native Irish were usually given small areas of land to farm on. They had to provide food for themselves and also enough to pay a rent to the Lord of the area. The Lords house was often referred to as the big house by the Irish people so this became a piece of Irish culture.
In the last century many of the Irish people became unsettled and wanted to claim Ireland back. There was a lot of violence and a lot of death but eventually most of Ireland came back under its own government. During all the fighting a lot of these big houses were destroyed. In fact a total of 275 were burned out, blown up or otherwise destroyed between 1920 and 1923. I have visited a lot of ruined buildings and castles in the Irish countryside a few of which were these Big Houses and would have belonged to lords. So my idea was what if you became trapped in one of these ruins late at night and perhaps the past comes back to haunt you.
Setting:
This game will be set in a burned out mansion in the middle of the Irish countryside on a dark Autumn(Fall) night. You will play as a photographer who visits the mansion to take pictures.

How could I resist another pixelated horror game?! See the screenshots below this post for a better idea.
