Apple and Worm: Patching Holes In Spacetime

The Apple is in the building

Hi guys and girls

I didn’t want to clog the game description with too much information, so I’ll just clog the news blog with too much information. I will describe here what I want the final game to be.

Superficially one may think the main feature of the game is manipulating the gravity but that’s not really the case. The player has no direct control over gravity, not in the usual sense at least. The idea came after a couple of years studying topology and differential geometry, and I asked myself what would happen if a platformer were in a curved space. I figured that if gravity were something personal and followed the character’s orientation it could lead to interesting mechanics. The fact that you can visit the same place in a level under different orientations is somewhat similar to the famous Möbius strip and Klein bottle.

So that’s the mechanics in a nutshell. I’ll explain the story, what’s the deal with the apple and worm etc in another post.

Any kind of feedback is welcome :)

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!

I have added rewards for quests so that villagers can give you something in return for your hard work helping them. 🥳

I want to know - what's your favourite quest reward?

A house I've built a while ago. :)

It nicely separates the snowy biome from the grassy one.

It's built with painted Ebonstone.

Showing off player 2 😎

What do you think?

These are background sprites I've created for a game I'm working on at school ^w^ Click on the post to see how the sprites connect. You won't regret it! (personally, I think it's pretty heheh)

I mostly build 3D First Person Shooter game mechanics in Unity, and in this I'm just showing C4 mechanics I made for a little side project I am working on! :)
