Why I Haven’t Worked On This In So Long
Hey everyone. Long story short, I got a new job. Working this job has drained me immensely, and is destroying my creativity as well as my time to work on this game. Days I do have off are spent recuperating, as I’m too sore and tired and, well, broken, to work on any of my projects. So right not, that’s the reason why the Aurum Demo still isn’t marked as a finished game on here. And yes, once I’m done updating the demo and have given you all the features and items I can, I’m marking the Aurum Demo as Finished rather than Early Stages.
What’s to Come
Things that haven’t been brought to you guys are basically more items, more recipes, new abilities, and the introduction of Field Abilities. I’ll get to that later. There will be more story to add to the game’s demo as well, and some of the plot will be touched on more. The next update will remove the Options part of the title menu, since changing anything in there no longer affects the whole game, as the settings have been altered to allow each individual save file to have its own settings. In the options menu, however, I’ll be introducing a new menu called “Database”, allowing the player to reread tutorials, button layouts, hints and tips, and secret documents found throughout the game.
Mainly, right now, I’d say most of the “features” are finished for the full game, or at least the ones in the demo. There might be some I might not even announce to keep the game fresh and exciting to explore. I’m also exploring some new ideas even though I haven’t been working on, like, anything but work, so I’ll keep you posted on that.
In short, next update gives new features and more story points, more scenes, a few new locations, post-game content and a new secret ending to unlock. There’s one new feature that WILL be implemented in the next one, but I won’t tell you guys what it is, you’ll have to figure it out for yourself. You’ll have one month after the update’s release to comment and tell me what it was. Heh. This’ll be fun.
Introduction to Field Abilities
There will be two Field Ability types, one being Character, and the other one being Equipped.
Character Field Abilities are learned as your party progresses through the story or levels up, and differ between each character. For example, having a particular character as your main playable character allows the player to pick up boulders and large objects rather than just pushing them across the ground, and another character’s ability could be to turn invisible to avoid enemy detection.
Equipped Field Abilities allow the player to equip a “Tool” onto a character and then activate a special field ability while using the character who has that tool equipped. For example, equipping Brett Bomb Bag II allows the player to place a bomb to blow up blocked paths, while equipping a hookshot allows the player to travel over large gaps.
Conclusion
The game is still in production, it just isn’t actively being worked on until planning and scheduling is created and my own work schedule is finalized rather than being so up-in-my-face and wonky and never actually reliable (this week they changed next week’s schedule four times in two days). I haven’t abandoned the game, and honestly what’s to come will be worth the wait, I assure you.
I love you all. Thank you for the support you’ve shown all these long years. You’ve been all waiting for so long to see this game become a full one. I assure you that you won’t have to wait too much longer.
