The Fazbear Facility: Prologue Announcement Trailer + Anniversary Devlog


Hey everybody, it's been quite awhile since I've made a devlog for The Fazbear Facility. Just like last time, so much has changed throughout the time we last shared our progress. Many things have been made, changed, removed, added, and fixed, so without further ado, lets start with...


Character Design Updates:

Over the past two months, I've been taking criticism given to me by the community and fellow game developers on some of the designs of the characters, mainly focused towards Freddy and Chica. After collecting enough feedback, me and @Spurk were hard at work retexturing and adding new details to the two models. After a bit, we finally concluded progress on updating the character models and are pretty satisfied with the outcome!

Chica Update:

We decided that Chica needed more creativity towards her design, helping her stand out from many other designs given to her over the years. After a bit of brainstorming, we thought of the idea that Chica would have an uneven endo arm that pierces through her suit, acting like it doesn't fit. The idea of having a limp arm was very cool, however we figured that Chica would need even more fixing and updating to make her even better. The next step we took was to remove the eye brows and iris's to give her more of a dead and unsettling appearance. Some more smaller changes we did were retexturing and fixing UV errors, adding wires across her mouth, remodeling the break, and rearranging the hair. The final result is fantastic, here is a comparison on both models:

Freddy Update:

We knew when going back on Freddy that he didn't need as much fixing as Chica did, rather some added details were needed. The first thing I thought of was retexturing Freddy to be most nasty looking out of all the characters, having oil and dirt spread all across his body. I wanted him to look more weathered down, tears and scares around his body, as well as a few of his teeth showing the inside framing. We also decided to remove the single eye still attached to his face, I figured that when the mysterious blue glowing eye turns on, it would be surrounded by the void inside of Freddy cold eyes.

Gameplay:

Recently, we've been finishing, adjusting and finalizing gameplay mechanics along with being hard at work on most of the characters AI, a lot of them are still in the pretty buggy phase, but I think they're finally coming to life!

Along with adding AI, we've also added the phone calls now with a fancy phone added to the mix of the office. Some other things we've redone or added to the office are new textures for the computer and a new door model:

We also decided to remake the flashlight battery icon, thank you @Stormonyx for helping me with that.

Although we would show gameplay footage again, it would basically be the same stuff we've shown off last time but with some updates. So, we'll wait to show off more gameplay soon.


Environment Redesigns + Changes

Last time the environments were shown off I claimed that they were done, I lied... So much stuff has been updated, fixed, and changed to every room, they now have a lot more detail and depth. The idea I want to go with for these rooms is that they are used, people work here, and things that they use are placed around random areas as well as tossed into corners. Making the rooms feel more lively defiantly helps make the entire facility feel more alive.

Camera System Update + Changes:

One of the most difficult things we have dealt with during development are the camera systems UI, I want the camera system to have a clean UI while also keeping the cameras quality be accurate to when the game takes place. After several different UI changes and fixes, I think this idea finally might be the one! We took inspiration from other fangames while also trying to add unique things to the cameras as well.!

This is your first look at the camera system, please take note that this is not entirely finished and is subject to change:

Fredbear Says:

We've recently finished the final draft for the first section of Fredbear Says, yes, there will be several sections with the iconic duo of Fredbear & Wally! I am currently working with @SandwichWare on making all the poses that the duo can express, while progress is a bit slow right now, its still making good progress. We have also recently casted Fredbear & Wally, which was already announced a bit ago. Here is a first look at Fredbear Says, its not much, but its something:

Cinematic Cutscenes:

The scripts for the more important cutscenes have been finished and are now beginning the animation and voice acting phase, we can promise that The Fazbear Facility will have a bunch of story driven cinematic cutscenes that I'm sure everyone will love! As of right now, I have been working on the opening cutscene, I don't want to spoil too much, so all I'll show is this screenshot:

Art Assets:

The artist have been working on amazing assets for the game, many new posters have been made for the entrance of the facility, some have been locked away in archives, as well as some posters being placed for the workers to stay on track! Achievements:

Yes, you can unlock achievements while playing! I have been in discussion with @ArcH1ve on making some cool thumbnails for the achievements of the game, we have already finished about four of them and have been coming up with ideas on how the others could look. Here is a first look/tease of one of the achievements the player can earn:

Other Progress:

@Fox_gamerPT , @MrKnd94 , and @BubyGamer11 have been recently coding for the game. I would say that it's been going very good lately. Every week we have been adding, testing, and fixing a bunch of things for the build, very soon we will be giving the playable build to our testers to get their feedback. There is no slowing down anytime soon, but that doesn't mean we are close to being finished, we still have a bunch of things to do before we are even near done. Character modeling is complete and done, nothing needs changing unless its necessary and should be dealt with. We have also recently began development on the new installment for Fazbea-

Oh... That's right, some of you haven't heard yet!

The team has now began development on a new installment that will lay the ground work for the beginning of Fazbear Facility’s story! Yes, this new installment is a prequel to the main events, the game will help go more in depth into how the facility came to be and what happened to the previous security guard... This installment is planning to be a small teaser game with a good ounce of lore, gameplay, and animatronics doing animatronic things, simply a small dish to hopefully satisfy the wait for the main course. Some of you might be asking...

"What's the release date?"

I will say that certain release date is currently set in stone however, we are very certain the game will release during the summer. We will keep you all posted on more updates that are to come. For anyone wondering or thinking that this will make the main games development go longer/slower, it isn't, the team is hard at work on both games equally.


Prologue Progress:

Progress for prologue has already been going well, the opening cutscene is finished and voice acting is pretty much complete. Coding has begun, and modeling is almost complete. So yeah, the usual!

From everyone who has seen the early previews, I'm sure they can all agree that Prologue is shaping up to be a good one!
