The Final Stretch


Hey, it's Sil here.

As I speak, Final Fight is nearly complete. All of the attacks are made, but the ending and spriting could do with some tinkering. Thankfully, I have someone handling the sprites (big shout-out to them), so I just need to do those two things and then testing can begin.

Before I do though, I will provide some spoilers for Final Fight, as well as some changes below it. Do not click on the spoiler if you want to play Final Fight blind.

Final Fight is designed to be an unfair fight, meaning that it is likely impossible to complete in one run. Given how you cannot play it in Debug or Easy modes, I'd imagine even the best of players will find it frustrating. It is not my intention to send the collection off with a fair fight, so if you do try to beat it then I do wish you the best of luck.

As for the fight itself, I will not provide any more details for now. I'll just let the surprise sink in when it arises.

Now for the changes:

  • Practice Mode is added, which will allow you to practice attacks in every game, with the exception of Final Fight. It will keep track of your hits as you go, and it is different from playing in Debug as the attack will repeat endlessly until you either change to a new one or exit to menu.

  • Music and sound volume sliders are added, which means the No Music option will be replaced.

  • Some dialogue has been changed.

  • Speaking of dialogue, if you just want to plough through the game, then you can turn off the dialogue. The only time when it won't work is if you're forced to read dialogue, such as in Duztrust.

  • The game menu will now turn gold if you have every star on your save file.

  • New achievements have been added for the FUN values, but those don't count to your save progression status at all to prevent frustration.

    • These achievements are listed below the description "Go outside already!", the achievement of which it belongs to will still unlock if you have every achievement above it.

  • Three new items are added in the Cosmetic Exchange Unit, allowing you to add some style to Her in the main menu.

  • I was going to include daily rewards, but I think it's dumb to be bound by RNG for a small reward, so instead, I'm adding bonus rewards for some No Item/Heal and No Hit challenges. Here's a table going over every bonus:

  • Abusing the Scooby Doo attack to turn off Debug Mode mid-fight in situations where he doesn't kill you is no longer possible.

  • Some star ratings have changed, again.

  • Undyne The True Undying now has an option to play with one shield, with the other one being covered by AngelaBot. This is useful if you cannot play with WASD controls and arrow keys at the same time.

  • The replay system is a no-go. I decided not to risk it.

  • An option to automatically parry pink bones has been added. Instead of timing your presses, you just hold the button while close to the pink bone to automatically parry.

  • Obtaining challenge texts on fights without having done said challenge should not be possible anymore.
