The future of CuBeat is coming...

It’s been a couple of months since the last version of the game. While I won’t get too into it, it all boiled down to my hard drive failing. I was able to retrieve the files from it last minute, and am now back in business.

The few months had me thinking of better ways to improve the game. The customization the user has is completely stripped due to limitations. I want to erase those limitations.

Starting with 0.3.0, I plan on removing GameJolt and their Data Store from the game. Instead, the game will rely on a folder that holds a ton of information about a level. This folder will either be imported through an option in the menu, or placed in a folder in the CuBeat directory. Music will still be from the Youtube platform, but will be more hardcoded for better security. This can allow for more customization in levels. Users will now be able to create their own custom textures and apply them to the models in game, as well as a backdrop and other things.

The UI is also getting another overhaul, for both the Editor and Menu.

I look forward to releasing this, now if you’ll excuse me, I must get back to work.

Been working lately on lots of 'behind-the-scenes' boring stuff that no one really cares about, so here’s a guy playing the sax for some reason.

These are background sprites I've created for a game I'm working on at school ^w^ Click on the post to see how the sprites connect. You won't regret it! (personally, I think it's pretty heheh)

Drawn in Piskel using my mouse. Whaddya think?

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!

blender animation experimentation, getting the hang of things fast. arms, rig, & gun models by me ofc
