The future of q.e.d.

Hello, @Harshmallow here. I just wanted to offer an update because I understand that the radio silence regarding this project has been frustrating. I don't want to make a super-verbose, ultra-detailed rundown of absolutely everything going on in my head right now, but I want to disclose that since Chapter 1 was released, I have undergone a lot of dramatic changes in my personal life including the death of my estranged father, the dissolution of essentially my entire childhood friend group, my significant other getting a new job and the associated upheaval in how my day-to-day life is planned, and a lot of other smaller things.

On top of this, I hate to sound like a broken record, but the drama that happened towards the end of last year has been so deeply damaging to my morale and my attitude towards the project that, with the increased focus on quality control and production value, it is hard to keep up with the amount of work that making the game what I want it to be takes. It has been a lot to come to terms with the fact that the landscape of social interaction on the internet has changed since I first released the original trilogy a decade ago; people are toxic, presumptuous, and will put you down if given the opportunity. As such, it has been a rough journey to accept that there are a lot of people who are predisposed to dislike something simply because my name is attached to it and they don't agree with my philosophy for whatever reason; admittedly, I do miss when it was just enough for the games to be funny (since that was the whole reason why I made them) but I digress. The fact of the matter is that even with how niche this project is, it's still been a lot to even be present and maintain any degree of public image and it has taken a toll on my productivity.

I also am an artist outside of this project, and I obviously have my own personal ventures that exist alongside or even superceding q.e.d. in importance; it's not at all that q.e.d. is irrelevant to me, and moreso that I feel like it is important to be able to work on what I want to work on when I want to work on it to make sure that it is a labor of love rather than of obligation.

I am not cancelling the game, and I do not want this post to be taken as indicative of the game being cancelled. However, I am going to say that we are reverting from the aforementioned episodic release cycle; the game will simply be released in full when it is complete, and my final word on that is that it will happen when it happens. It is being worked on, but inherently it is sporadic because of my mental health and I want to be transparent about that. Any aforementioned statements I've made on the release window of the game are to be considered null and void; it will come out when it comes out. This is the choice I have decided to make, and the alternative was putting the project to rest altogether. q.e.d. will come to your doorstep like a gift from a medieval faerie when it is complete, and not a moment sooner, so don't go waiting on it or it's going to feel a lot longer than you'd like.

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!
