Hi, I'm really sorry I haven't updated in a long time. I'm actually making very slow progress on this game, and I almost decided to cancel or abandon it. As you know, I completely reimagined the game; version 0.3 of the original game really had a lot of issues that made it hard for me to work comfortably, and I didn't see the potential for a truly fun game.
I had to start from scratch, but this time with a more mathematical system at its core: level generation, more complex enemies, modifiable stats, etc. Things that in the previous version were modified manually and, once changed, couldn’t be altered further.
To explain it better, in the original game, the bullet could get bigger, but that was because it switched to a sprite I made myself, just a bigger one; whereas now, the bullet’s size corresponds to a numerical value that can be altered infinitely, and the size can be HUGE—even as big as the entire map.
Things like that have been worked on now; I’ve added dynamic music, different enemy movements, etc. These are currently quite stressful to implement, but once they’re ready, we could create synergies with objects and, obviously, make the game MUCH MORE FUN!!
So I’ll be releasing version 0.3 of this new update soon. I want to add a few more enemies, polish what I have, and throw in a few objects here and there to start experimenting—and of course, you guys can too.
I'm not trying to brag or sugarcoat things, but having tried it myself, I found it a lot more fun, and I can't wait to get to more advanced levels so I can keep trying out new things.
The game currently features
- Stage 1 (partially) completed
- Dynamic music
- New enemies and reimagined ones
- A boss battle
- Many more editable stats
ALSO, I’ve come up with a pretty good story, which I’ll add toward the end of development, so during early access, I don’t plan on adding many details about it, but there will be a few scattered here and there.
That’s all—stay tuned for news soon. This time, I mean it.
