The Matt Warkoski June Devlog


Yes. I missed a few months. No, I really didn't want to. But, the truth is setting up these devlogs is kinda hard when it feels like you simply don't have enough content warranting one, and when you have full-time work outside of your projects draining most of your motivation to truly grind out work for said projects, but... here we go.

CROSSOVER NIGHT

This was probably the one most people were expecting. I think it's about time that I show people some gameplay of the full game (NOTE: Everything here is subject change and may not be final).

As you can see, the game's UI has been significantly revamped, and there is also far less clutter with less cam rooms. But don't think that means the game will be easier this time around...

As you can also see from the clip, there is a new utility togglable alongside both the Camera Beacon and Audio Decoy - the Chiller! This will temporarily freeze out the room the player is looking at when used, which is paramount against certain characters, and even lowers your temperature a bit!

I'm also gonna go ahead and reveal a character as part of this devlog before I move on from the Crossover Night stuff, that being...

ELAIRYX: He moves slowly in the Exit Corridor camera. When he is close to leaving the room, use the Camera Beacon on him in order to reset his progress. If he escapes, he'll raise your temperature up by a substantial margin, in which it cannot be lowered for the rest of the night! While not a lethal threat, he is still a dangerous foe to let slip into your office...

GOOFY SILLY ENCOUNTERS

Aside from the teasers, I haven't actually let on too much about GSE ever since my original announcement of it, and that's on purpose... GSE is a game that I've been more productive on overall than Crossover Night lately, and so to compensate for the radio silence, I'll reveal a couple of GSE things here next.

First of all, Goofy Silly Encounters won't be all so goofy and silly the ENTIRE time. There are three foes that are sure to give you a run for your money. Any idea who they may be?...

Here is the office in all its glory! It should be made clear that the game will contain some familiar foes, and also some unfamiliar ones. Who knows... maybe some of the objects around here will give you hints on yet-to-be revealed characters...

Oh yeah, and this game will have a togglable aggressive mode soon, which unlocks you an entirely new plethora of intriguing, yet increasingly difficult gameplay opportunities! And yes, pretty much everything is changed by this aggressive modifier. This will probably be my biggest game yet in terms of sheer content, so be on the ready...

Ultimatum

Lastly, there's some news I need to come out regarding Ultimatum - it's done. It was a test to make a PvZ 2 mod, and after seeing people's responses to the mod on the general spectrum, it has demotivated me from continuing the project. This announcement was a long time coming, and has been solidified in my head for around a couple months now, but I feel it's time to finally put it out there.

Unless Ultimatum sees some newfound resurgence of people who actually enjoy it, which I highly doubt is gonna happen... it's not getting any more updates. The build on GameJolt still contains only the first three worlds, whilst an update featured on MediaFire, which I'll link to the game's page after this devlog is posted, is also available.

Sorry to leave this devlog off on kind of a sour tone, but frankly, having a devlog at all is kind of a miracle to me... in any case, I'll see you guys whenever I post another teaser for GSE or Crossover Night, or in the next devlog. Goodbye for now.
