The plan going forwards


Hi everyone! Ah, it has been ages since I last made an update on the happenings of this game. Let's get right to it.

First off, completely good news: Development is starting again!

Second off, some news that could admittedly be more disappointing, bear with me a bit: Development is restarting mostly from scratch.

Now for the reasoning:

Recently, I got my hands on Clickteam Fusion 2.5+. Now having a need to learn how to take advantage of its new features, I decided to try to think of what project would be perfect for that. As it happens, RPG overworld stuff is hypothetically a ton easier with these new features, so I thought of making a new, small, silly little RPG.

But then I remembered that this project's initial version didn't take that long to make, and that was when I was less experienced. So now my plan is to restart development of the game in Clickteam Fusion 2.5+ using its new features.

Besides, I've grown so much as a game developer since I first put this thing out, so I feel like it's only fair to the project and to everyone that I remake it to make it the best game it can be.

...also way too much of the old code was tied to the stupid webcam stuff that I'm pretty sure nobody cared about and it was slowing things down a lot when I was still working on the old code-base from what I recall.

That being said, the old version of the game is still available as the Legacy Edition, for those curious to see what it used to be like.

I don't have much to show yet of the new version, but... I've included a sneak peek of what I have so far.

I have no official time-frame for how long this will take. All I can say is that, since I need to learn how to use CF2.5+, and I'd rather do so before continuing with most of my other projects, my hope would probably be to get a public demo out remaking the first area of the game within a month from now if I can help it.

Next up

More graphical improvements (Note: Image is scaled up quite a bit, click on it to see it at the original resolution. Also, for some reason, it thinks I uploaded two images.)

Currently trying to make the out of bounds areas in the upcoming (and eventual, please have a bit of patience, this may take a while) update look a bit cooler via unusual skyboxes and using a fade to transparency instead of a fade to black for fog.

I can't promise any kind of release date on anything here. Just can say I'm trying to get some more progress done now. Might actually release this update some day... maybe...
