Okay. Okay. It’s been a while.
Because these developer people I hired to make MY game are actually
also working on ANOTHER game. Something with space and planets. Nonsense. Unheard of!
While I was sitting here dwelling on my miserable choice of employees I have prepared a couple of things to make them work faster once they come back here.
Whips with spiked knots on their tips for instance.
So what happened in the meantime?
Unity 2017 happened.
The graphics guy said we can’t possibly ignore that release. The programmer person said we can’t just switch horses mid-race.
We went with the graphics guy, much to the initial displeasure of the programmer person. Turns out we got a new fancy thing. They call it expando-trees.
Apart from this sudden influx of tree variation possibilities, there have been a lot of changes under the hood, as the programmer person likes to say.
The save games work better and faster now. The systems that support the puzzling and me rigging levels so they actually contain gamey stuff is now also more robust.
Also we scrapped the old lighting system because it broke badly at some point. Before the 2017 update though, mind.
So programmer person looted the dead corpse of the old lighting system and extracted stuff to make a custom one. Less features but more stability.
Essentially nothing substantial has changed though.
Except that we have no more dynamic shadows :C
Last bot not least the graphics guy began refactoring the mansion outside.
See, I went there againto take pictures for reference. Turns out what I thought it looked like is nothing like how it actually looks.
Anyway.
That’s it. A small and very rough summary of what happened.
