before the battle

before fighting the champions you will be given a mini rest area, you will not be able to heal or buy items, all you can do is add 6 more pokemon to your team, the champion battle will be a 12 V 12, all pokemon you add to your party will have the same HP as whatever pokemon on your existing team has the highest amount of HP

after beating the champions you unlock extreme mode (AKA story mode)
