Theres No Cause For Concern Cancellation...


Sadly, I have made the decision to cancel There's No Cause For Concern.
Here are my reasons:

1. Art Style.
The spiriting in game (The ones seen in these versions were very early) and the style i wanted to go for, one, would take way to long for me to be happy with just one room, two, my personal lack of skill in that department.

I like to think of myself as more of a coder, script writer, and an idea guy, in no way am i an artist, nor will i try to be, and i will fully admit when my art fails to leave people with a good taste in there mouth.

Although i definitely would of pushed myself through it, and made it look to the best of my ability, the coding takes a while, and to me, when i know the effort that goes into the coding, and knowing how good it felt to figure it out, to others, it doesn't seem impressive, and that brings me down A LOT.

2. Coding.
as i just skimmed over, there coding i do, and the length it takes to succeed with something as simple as UI for a menu, for what took me an hour to get perfect, for others, they look past it, unless your visuals are spectacular, its hard to impress people, especially considering this was my first solo game.

Take the room you spawn in, from the grey fences, to the fire wood, to the dirt below it, for collisions, its multiple layers of sprites, sprites that i had low intentions of making much better, just telling myself that i would do it when the game is done. But if the game was done, id simply be to excited for people to see the product, therefore, forgetting, or neglecting the fact i need to go and remake them.

That is why i usually have so many early tests, the hours of work i put into just 2 frames, some small cool UI features, after showing people it feels more pathetic to show them something as small, and what looks to be as low effort, as what this game look currently.

3. Lackluster Games.
Me and my friend, began @Lackluster_Games . A game team we are forming, to make games of a specific genre (or at least, our passion project is of the sort) An RPG/Platformer called Jade. Jade, is our passion project, and what the next Lackluster Games are leading up too. and no, i didnt cancel this game because im working on lackluster games, i have been working on my own project, and Cause for concern is the main project, and will most likely not be cancelled.

I only began working on this game, as i have some free time from working on it, as my team for it, takes over with some art for main game play. And as i have time, i though working on something i knew i could Finnish (and i still think i would of) would be the best use of time. but, a top down RPG, is probably one of the least things i should be using my time for, it should be a plat former.

and i have been, i have been working on a plat former, 100% not to release, just to prepare and get my skill set up for jade a little bit, but working on another project at the same time, and one that at this point, having not much passion for, just didn't seem like the right way to go.

4. Cause For Concern/Final statement.

Ive noticed how un-happy this makes me sound, but how happy can you really share something like this?
But to brighten up the mood, this game was an in universe game, that directly connects to Cause For Concern, maybe in the feature, (like in my server) ill share all ideas and scrapped content. but anyway, cause for concern, is a game me and a team Ive developed, are making and working on:

its my own take on The Mandela catalogue inspired game, "Alternate watch", and "im on observation duty".
A point and click survival horror game, where you memorize the setting, and objects seen in a house. But watch out, sometimes there can be disruption.. or, anomalies hidden around the house, find and identify them, the farther you are in the night, the creepier, and lifelike, the anomalies will become.
