Dev Log 2.0 - Game Development Progress

Under (Construction) Tale
**Overview:**
As the initial coding process comes to an end, we would like to share all the progress we have made in the development of the game, including a battle system, fully functional textboxes, and even cutscenes

Current Features Implemented:
1. Core Gameplay Mechanics: Complete
- Movement System: The player can move Charles without issue.
- Sprinting System: The Sprinting System is fully functional.
- Collision: Interactive objects have a collision box that allows for textboxes to appear.
- Cutscenes: We can now implement cutscenes that shift the camera to different places while the sprites move around the screen.
2. Game Environment:
- Traversable rooms: We currently have a few sections of the game fully mapped out in Game Maker, and we just need to add details to make sure the rooms are visually pleasing.
3. User Interface: Complete
- NPC text boxes: Along with the ability to open textboxes when inspecting something, or talking to an NPC, the mugshot of the NPC will appear whilst they speak to you.
In-Game Menu: The In-Game Menu has been fully completed. When you kill a monster, the kill counter goes up, and you gain XP or gold. When you open the menu and select stats, you can see the weapon and armour you are equipped with and the other stats.
4. Sound Design:
- Sound effects: We have added multiple sound effects including NPC or enemy dialogue bit sounds, menu select sounds, and
- Music: We continue looking for more music developers. Even though there are three people (including myself) willing to design and compose music, a team of three people is still quite small. **Next Steps:**
- Dialogue: Now that most core mechanics have been completed, we are moving to writing character scripts, making the game more immersive.
- Map Design: As we come to a close on map design, we will be adding details to the environment around the player.
- Battle Scripts: The completion of the battle engine allows us to shift our attention to writing the character scripts, attack patterns, and menu text. We will also be drawing more character art for battles.
