Recently I got UNDERTALE and completed Neutral & Genocide so I could study them for this game. I've never done Genocide before so I thought it would be interesting to see how Toby made it so empty
It was amazing. Throughout the playthrough I really felt the consequences. The empty underground, the creepy music reminding you of your sins and the horrible game design purposefully slowing you down all adding up to make the Genocide route as hard as possible
(I also gave myself the extra challenge of no healing items - thanks for the bs, Undyne)
It made me start to worry about this fangame
I'm doing everything ENTIRELY on my own (because who else makes UT fangames on the GB) which is very draining as well as all my progress getting randomly deleted multiple times even though I saved it twice everytime to be sure (currently halfway through re-doing everything from the past dev log)
I'm also worried it's just not gonna be good enough - that it won't live up to UNDERTALE's standards. I write everything in the story as I go because whenever I try to write all 3 routes out it becomes tedious quickly, and I don't have any tool to write for split paths
The game is also getting compared to UTY a lot (and fair enough, they're both games about fallen children before Frisk) but it's just making the expectations part even more stressful
There's also a lot of ideas I have for the game that I have to cut out because I'm worried about sticking to the canon. For example, I wanted an area where you interact with Gaster and at the end he falls into the core. But we don't even know who Gaster is for sure, even if the waterfall man is heavily believed to be him
I just made this because I'm feeling unmotivated. No need to read too deep into it or anything
