Today Unity break silence and released a blog post regarding their Runtime Fee, and its a lot better than before!
After receiving a ton of backlash, they finally made changes to their pricing structures and other small nooks.
Introducing the new Runtime Fee
Where there will be NO Runtime Fee for games built on the Personal plan (Already off to a great start!)
Secondly, they'll be increasing the revenue cap of $100,000 to $200,000 (If I'm correct) which basically means if you made or your game made $200,000 (in this case), you'll be required to switch from the Personal plan to a higher tier I.E. Unity Pro.
And as a small bonus creators can remove the annoying Made with Unity splash screen, before this tied to Unity Plus (which is now gone) and/or Unity Pro - nice to see it FINALLY brought over to the free version.
And lastly, the Runtime Fee WON'T apply regardless of how much money/monetized our content is so long as we're still using Unity 2022 LTS and below.
Three Random Archives and all other projects made in Unity are running on Unity 2021, so cool!
But as stated before this will be the last game I ever make in Unity before making the full switch to UE4 (More on that in the future!)
So neat! Development on TRA will continue as normal (So long as they don't arbitrary make changes to their Term of Services AGAIN!) and should see a release in the foreseeable future. (Q4 2024 Best guess)
That's all for now! As always thank you everyone for your support and I hope you have a funtime day!
